Dave, please verify your proxy settings are correct.

Control panel -> Internet options -> connections tab -> lan setup button -> uncheck everything and click OK.

If your internet still does not work, please click start -> run and paste the following command:
cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt" and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here.
The internet was still bad after changing LAN proxy settings to unchecking all; Here is the notepad log; Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : HomePC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-13-D3-4E-8A-AA Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.104 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Friday, January 29, 2010 8:11:59 AM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, January 30, 2010 8:11:59 AM Ping request could not find host yahoo.com. Those settings look correct, but it appears you are having a DNS issue.

Are you able to access the internet using any other programs on your computer, or in general, you have NO internet access?

Are there any other computers on this network that ARE capable of accessing the internet?

Can you tell me which service pack you have installed on Windows? You can go to control panel -> system and look under the general tab. It should say Windows XP Service Pack x." I'm guessing this is the famous service pack 3 no DNS issue. Did you recently update to service pack 3?

Concerning the malware logs that you posted, but were subsequently removed, have you recently visited a malware removal forum for assistance in removing malware on this system, or have you had a recent problem with malware that you scanned for and removed?

Click start -> run and copy and paste the following command:

cmd /c "nslookup yahoo.com > postme.txt & ping 192.168.1.1 >> postme.txt & notepad.exe postme.txt"

Please wait for the file to open in notepad and copy and paste the contents. Thank you.
I'm glad you resolved your problem Dave. I removed your malware logs because we are unable to analyze of comment on them here in the tech forums of WhatTheTech. If you feel you may be suffering from a malware infection you need to read the instructions in the malware removal forum, and post a new thread in that section. At this time I would suggest you head on over there for a checkup to make sure you really are clean. Please do not post anymore malware removal logs in the tech forum.
