hi. i rebooted my compuer hoping it would run better. someone told me a tip of storing files in the recovery d drive so i put some of my files in there. i rebooted my computer or i set it back to its factory settings and when i started it up again my d drive was full but i couldnt get into it to get my files out. it says this is the recovery drive and shouldnt be tampered with. now my computer keeps telling me d drive is full and i should clear up some space. and my comp seems to be running worse than before. can someone tell me how to fix this kyle
Hi and welcome to the WTT forums :welcome: Sorry to hear of the problem with your computer…… the person who advised you or gave you a tip to store extra files in the recovery drive, was dangerously and calamatously wrong! This has damaged the correct running of your machine and compromised the ability of the Restore Drive D to restore your computer to its factory condition…(that is its proper purpose) You need to remove the files from the D drive that you put there…..but make sure you leave all the files in the D drive that the manufacturer put there. If you cannot get access to your D drive, despite your best efforts, then you will need to install a parallel operating system, or use an operating system that runs in memory (Barts Preinstalled Environment is good, or a Live Linux distribution Linux Puppy is recommended. If you are not comfortable with those procedures, then you should be able to get a Restore disc from the computer manufacturer (they will charge for this) that should be able to help. Lets hope that the person who gave you the bad advice, also gave you some good advice ……that is to ensure that your back up/copy/archive of all the important stuff on your computer is 100% up to date, accurate, reproducible, and kept safe on removable media. Otherwise its may be worth considering consulting a local competent computer technician and getting an estimate for the cost of doing the above. Sorry that its not better news for you. Regards paws
