:pullhair: I am getting an error code of 0x000000007b. I was reformatting and I get this code. Can't even run chckdisk/f since I can't get into my C drive. I need some help if anyone can. Thanks Michael
Hi MAP, welcome to WhatTheTech.

Is this the error you're getting?

*** STOP: 0x000000007B (0x82065A30, xxxxxx …..)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

You said Can't even run chckdisk/f since I can't get into my C drive.

How are you trying to access the C: drive? Are you booting to the Recovery Console? Do you have a XP Install CD?

You are going to have to get into BIOS Setup on your computer to set the CD/DVD drive as the first bootable device, so you can then boot your XP CD.

How you do this varies with each manufacturer. Normally you press F1, F2, F10 or Del when you see the manufacturers logo. Often there is a clue somewhere on the screen when you boot normally telling you what key to press.

If you don't have an XP CD, download and create a bootable CD from the .iso file XP Recovery Console

You don't burn the iso file itself to CD., you create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will
do this.

Boot the CD and at the first opportunity, enter R to start the Recovery Console.
Next, choose which XP installation you want to login to. Normally this will be 1.
Lastly you will be asked for the Administrator password. Just press the Enter key as the Administrator does not have a password (unless you gave it one, then you would enter it).
From the command prompt, enter: chkdsk c: /r
Allow it to complete undisturbed. It can take an hour or more depending on the size of the hard drive.

Remove the CD, type exit and the computer will reboot. Hopefully that will have fixed the problem (corrupted file system).
:( I just couldn't take it anymore. I have an OEM XP CD. Have done the burning of an XP with the packs that it was missing. I hit f1, f2, f3…f5, f12, esc, tab, del and on and on and on. I just got so darn frustrated I just took it to Tiger Direct and have them run a frigging diagnostic. I was about to take out my 45 and do as the blue screen said…terminate it and commit suicide!!! I appreciate, immensely, your help. Thanks Ric Michael

Your problem is a little complicated. Maybe you can try to reinstall the system.
 I don't know yet. They just called me and said they were beginning the process and that it was going to take a few hours since the system I have is a "monster". I don't believe it's a monster, oh sure it's got a killer video card, that has its own fan, to play a war game. Can't remember the name of it since my son hasn't been home for a few months. And it's got 2 gigs of ram and a pentium quad core. They'll call me once they've checked it out. I'll keep you posted if you want. Thanks Michael
 I guess it might be. They called me and said that the rams, I have 2 one gig heat sink memory cards, when put together would get the blue screen in either slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. But when they were put by themselves in the slots, any one of the slots, the machine would boot up. They will call me tomorrow and let me know what is up. I hope it's not the motherboard. It's a pain in the rear end putting those little cables in the jumper little slots. My eyes aren't what they use to be. I got my son's friend coming over if that's the problem. He'll help me put the thing together again. After all he helped me last time. ;)
