Disk drive recognized but doesn't read disks

as stated in the title.. when i enter to device manager, the device is identified and says "working properly". however when i go to "computers" it only shows the C drive. any suggestions?
Hi redshot. Welcome to WhatTheTech. What kind of disk drive are you talking about? Is this some type of external USB device? Have you ever used this drive before? Does it work on other computers? Without further information the only thing I can tell you is that the drive is likely not partitioned. You have to open the disk management console where you can partition, format, and assign drive letters to a new or blank hard drive. Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and choose disk management on the left hand side. Identify the drive in question and examine the information provided for that drive as far as partition sizes, and drive letters. If this drive contains any important data, messing with the settings in disk management may render your data unrecoverable.
