I am using a laptop as the computer, but the power on button used to switch on the computer ( the same button used to "wake up" the computer from standby mode) is out-of-order.

therefore i cannot switch on the computer if i shut down in windows, and so i have left the laptop non-shut down for almost a year now~

what i am thinking is that , if i can change the button to wake up my computer from the "switch on" button to sth else which is working, i can at least stand-by the computer when unused and cool down it a litte bit,

therefore my question is, is there anyway to change to button that "wake up" the computer from stand by mode?

btw, http://forums.whatthetech.com/HijackThis_L….html&st=15 , my computer is malware free
Hot key conbinations are usually used to return a computer from stand-bye. You should look in your user's manual to see what the sequence is. Have you tried holding down the power button to get it to come on? Sometimes it has to be held down for a few seconds.

i mean the power button is already out of order now.

before it went out of order, i always press it to wake up from stand by mode

therefore now, i would like to change to another button to wake it up , is it possible?
YOu have not specified what make and model of laptop that you have. Technically, there is no replacement for the "power button." If the power button is broke, it needs to be fixed. However, on a few laptops I have seen, you can get the same result by pressing a couple of the other buttons on the laptop to turn it on. Its been a while and I can't recall what those butons are. Give us the make and model of the computer and when I look it up, if it rings a bell, I'll let you know.
