Hey guys .. I have had such great help on this site I wanted to post about a couple small issues.. THe computer seems ok at times but stumbles a little bit with the new IE 8 , and I am having a "C-motech RDEVCHG" file that keeps popping up. Along with issues with my ASUS Ai BOOSTER. Not sure if the two are not getting along or not .. I also tried updating the ASUS , but doesn't seem to help much .. Instead , upon start up now I get an "unvarified software" for the ASUS to run oc cancel…….Thanks again for all your help !!
Not sure about this one, I have no clear answers as I cant find any clear info, a search brought up 2 main things from what I saw, 1st were a load of Hijack scans, although that doesn't mean this is an infection, it just may be being picked up as it's included in the scans. the 2nd was suggesting the file is to do with a modem, so as you can see it doesn't tell us much lol. But given there are these 2 points covered in the search it would be wise to run some scans to be sure, have you run any protection yet at all ?
Hi EP70.

The simplest thing to do would be to uninstall IE8 from Add and Remove Programs, see if that fixes the problems. If yes, then the next time it's offered, decline it and when you get the window asking if you don't want to be notified about it again, reply Yes.

To do this, you have to have Automatic Updates set to Notify me but don't automatically download or install them.
The CMOtech is a USB wireless modem it appears for accessing cellular networks. Are you using a cellular wireless internet adapter on this computer? The majority of problems with internet explorer are due to third party add-ons and toolbars. One of the simplest things to do with Internet Explorer 7, or newer, to fix problems and restore performance is to open Internet Options from Control Panel. Click the "Advanced" tab, and click "RESET." Restart Internet Explorer and see if that helps your issues. Please explain when the CMOTech error occurs and exactly what it says. You were not specific in your original post. Maybe it is asking you to install drivers for this device? Unless you are a skilled technician, with significant experience in overclocking system components, I would suggest that you uninstall the ASUS Ai Booster software all together or suffer the results of hardware failure and instability due to inproper clock speed and voltage parameters. There have been other suggestions that you need the right version of Ai Booster to match your motherboard. The newer software will not work properly on an older board. It needs an older version. I don't know if there is any truth to that.
8210Guy , I have ran an HJT log in the other forum and it turned up clean.. I heard of the malware as well , and that got me a little nervous so that was the first thing I did .. I do have pertection , ATF , MBAM , Spybot , Ad-aware , and CA Security .. I also have WinParol , but don't really know how to use that one .. Ztruker , it was actually happening before the IE8 upgrade. Thats one reason I installed it thinking it would fix the issue. appleoddity , I do use my Sprint wireless card on this machine, so that may be one of the files that pop up. I have noticed , that it only does it after a while , after I close out the Sprint Smart View. If I disconnect the card , but leave the Smart View open , it doesn't aoppear. As for the ASUS , go figure , it hasn't acted up since I posted this… Again , could this be an issue with the Smart View ?
Using WinPatrol is easy, because it does everything itself, you don't physically run a scan with it, what it does is warn you if your hosts file is changed and allows you to block the change, the same with your home page, you can also control your start up programs with it, great lightweight tool all round really. Now as you have the all clear it seems like it should be sorted, so as well as the above suggestion, click on Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager and look for this adaptor, you will need to expand the entry to see what is in each bit, but I imagine it would be in modems or LAN\networking or similar, once you find it right click on it and select uninstall, reboot and if it wants to auto install again let it, my hope is this will break whatever is tied to it that keeps trying to launch with it, worst case repeat but say no to the reinstall, and check the don't ask again box, of course only do this if you don't need that for anything else.
