Hi there. This from my wife's new dell stuidio one touch screen thingy. I run a small network (well more accurately it runs me really) and we have sort of managed to get by since early dos days, W95, 98se XPpro & home and now this 'orrible thing. I tend to utilise things like BelarcAdvisor which wont run on this, it has a rundll32.exe problem on here. Windows vista wont allow an update because of the above error, the error in the topic description that is.Error 80248015. Googling that was no help at all.. There are other security issues like it wont allow her onto her online bank or online university site. She has managed to do all these things via her laptop which also runs vista quite effectively - no problems. I can operate my bank account (same page and site) on this computer no problems. The email software has been removed by her because it affected that as well. Is there anything else I can provide to help you? The 'pooter and OS I've already mentioned. Studio one (what ever that means) Keyboard and mouse are wireless. I can provide a HJT log if it will help. cheers mij

Hi there tomk. Thanks for the reply but a mod shifted my original plea and I ended up with two threads. Sorry about that. I should have read ahead and was a bit quick on the click. I've given up on that error code as nobody seems to know what its about. I've used the re-install back up disk to renew the OS. I still have to put some other stuff back in but otherwise I think its done thanks. I'm beginning to hate windows. Nothing remains the same with this windows malarchy. I'll leave it to my wife to re-set up and personalize the system as she wants it. Many thanks for the help here, I may be back again later  cheers jim
