A friend asked me to look at her computer to see if I can clean up her laptop. It was running very slow, had some pop ups and would not access the Internet at times. I installed and ran HJT before starting and save the initial log. Installed and ran AVG Free, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Any ability to access the Internet was gone after running Spybot. Yesterday, I followed some of the instructions in "kingofsuicide" post and installed and ran LSPfix, which removed ntdll64. Then I ran WinsockXp_Fix. Now I am able to connect to the Internet.

I ran Spybot and AVG Free before going to bed, which removed a bunch of stuff. This morning, I installed and ran "CleanUp!". I stepped away for an hour and Spybot and AVG Free windows popped up with new bugs but Spybot could not remove 4 items and needed to run on StartUp, which it did.

Next, I ran OTScanIt2 and saved the log. Can someone look at the logs and let me know if her computer is clean. Let me know if you need the previous logs. Before posting, I followed the "Before Posting A HJT Log" instructions and posted below the HJT and MBAM logs:

Thank you!

Oh! I almost forgot. Today, I also installed and ran ATF_Cleaner.

Thank you again.
Hi there I can see part of your problem but I would like to kill as much as possible in one go so …………..

  • Download OTListIt2 to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTListIt.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTListIt2.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.
I ran OTListIt2 as you requested and the log files follow below:

McAfee removal
Norton removal

Now the best part of the day —– Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..Run OTListit and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself. MBAM can be uninstalled via control panel add/remove along with ERUNT. But they may be useful tools to keep

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
