Good Morning,

When we're done I will give you a list of recommended programs to install to help keep you secure

It looks like you had Symantec at one time and removed it, part of it is still running.

c:\Program Files\There <– Is this something you know about and use??

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://count.exitexchange.com/exit/1121848

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

:Files
c:\windows\system32\suvogemi.exe

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Also post a new HJT log and let me know if that box is still popping up.
Hi Ken

I Have no idea what this is:
c:\Program Files\There <– Is this something you know about and use??
I would ok with killing all traces of it. It is not something I knowingly use.

HJT Fix performed on:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://count.exitexchange.com/exit/1121848

Here are the results from moveit:

========== FILES ==========
File/Folder c:\windows\system32\suvogemi.exe not found.

OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer - Version 1.0.11.0 log created on 05212009_160400

Now,
After I sent that post late last night, I ran an AVG scan, and it found these two items:

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\glsetup.exe";"Trojan horse SHeur2.AGJH";"Moved to Virus Vault"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\suvogemi.exe";"Trojan horse Generic13.AIUD";"Moved to Virus Vault"

So, I guess the alert box - that I thought was "fake" was actually AVG -
So, i think we are past that - sorry for the unnecessary concern

Ken There is "not any more" Java installed and verified Old version are gone Computer seems to be running good - What next? Thanks dk
Ken

Well, just when I thought all was well
AVG found the following:

THREAT DETECTED !!
c:system volume information\_restore{….long key number…..}\RP8\A0002266.exe
Threat Name: Trojan Horse SHeur2.AGJH
Detected on open

Process name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe
Process ID: 964

So I had it "HEALED" by AVG

Do we still have some scanning to do?

Here is the HJT LoG

What your Anti Virus found was a bad entry in your System Restore program, no big deal but we need to flush it all out.

System Restore makes regular backups of all your settings, if you ever had to use this program to restore your system to a previous date, you will be infected all over again so we need to clean out the previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore.

  • Right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore on all Drives.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot your computer

Turn ON System Restore.

  • Right-click My Computer.

Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster, you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot.

Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 3 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Ken  Ok No more left over Trojans have been found since I recreated the restore point Combofix \u has been run I have downloaded Spy ware blaster 4.2 from the list - I will run that with AVG and Win Patrol. Computer seems to be running good question: If i have disabled some start programs using ccleaner, and everything runs will after i do that - can I just delete them? waiting next instruction thanks dk
Hi,

Not sure what you disabled, what I would do is look through the list of what you disabled and then if there are programs that you no longer use or want then uninstall them via the Add Remove Programs. Be very careful, I have no idea what you disabled and you do not want to uninstall any programs that are related to your system.

We just do malware removal on this forum, you can post in our other forum for windows issues and they can help you sort them out.
