HI THERE , Have a problem ,windows boots all looks fine only prob is i have no control over computer usb mouse not working or ps2 keyboard doesnt work ,in fact nothing is recognised on any usb input its like there not seen. result is i cant do a system restore or even boot to windows xp disc and do a repair or recovery , im on windows xp pro sp2. a clue when it goes through its boot up check its coming up with a few things as " not detected " i cant read these as it happens to quick to read properly and then boots into windowsa as if normal. HELP PLEASE !!!! regards phil c
ive gone a little further with this problem , someone told me to check the bios battery ,i replaced it and its reset the bios .its come up with press f2 to run setup or f1 toload default values and continue, the keyboard and mouse still wont work and im now at a loss as to whats wrong . i could take out the c drive and use a ide to usb and reformat on another computer but i logically cant see that fixing the problem . as im only using the bios for the usb or keyboard use and there not working this way so reformatting the hard drive probably wont fix it ?????? mmmm hope somebody reads and can suggest something , im maybe thinking its a motherboard fault helppppppp philcamera
Hi , I originally posted this in windows forum ,but since trying to work on this myself im coming to the conclusion i think it may be hardeware based .which is why ive come here. over the past week or so weve noticed that the mouse stopped working sporadically no other probs with the system then two days ago we booted up and lost ps2 and all the usb sockets were non functioning , the mouse and keyboard all work when plugged into another comp. the m/c always boots perfectly into windows and appears ok but there is no control over m/c. ive replaced the battery thinking it might be a corupted bios and reset .. it now comes up with white letters on black background that says cmos/gpnv checksum bad press f2 to run setup press f1 to load default values and continue i cant as i still have no control over m/c with keyboard and mouse non functioning any body help me or does it look like the motherboard not working any suggests or ideas ??? im all out !!!! help please regards phil c
Greetings Phil,

Sorry for the delay. I moved your Windows posts and merged all here.

Although you removed the CMOS battery do you know if the motherboard has a CMOS jumper?

Also do you know the make and model of the motherboard?
