I have been getting application failed to start MSVCR80.dll was not found reinstalling may fix the problem. I dont know where it is or how to find it.Would appreciate if someone can help. Thanks Mike
Hello there Steelie18.

What program wont work when you try to open it?

I have read in most cases that it is Microsoft Office 2007 that this problem occurs.

To fix this, follow these five simple steps:
(1.) Open Microsoft Word
(2.) Click on the Office Orb in the upper left of the screen
(3.) Click Word Options
(4.) Click Resources
(5.) Click Diagnose

Microsoft Office will then run some scans and after about 5 minutes. The issue should be corrected after this.

Otherwise, check this site: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr80
Hi steelie18

Exactly what application produce the error?

As GaryOR-LFC mentioned, Off.2007 sometimes have problems with this file.
So does Windows Defender and a dozen of others.

I would also put a word of caution of trying to re-register the MSVCR80.dll. It is
a application sensitive DLL file, and should follow the application. I would therefore
advice not to use the one from DLL-Files.com. Its a great site, but in this particular
situation, one can not use the re-registering.

You offered the solution yourself:

reinstalling may fix the problem

If re-installing doesn't work, it may be a case of the application being incorrect.
Try use your search function, then search for MSVCR80.dll and you should probably
find it in the windows folder itself, and not system32 where most other DLL files goes.
Remember to include hidden files in your search.

If you find the file to be in place, you need to contact the makers of the application you
have trouble with, and hear if they have a work-around.

Regards
I did what you said ABYDOS and ran the search and it said its from a microsoft C++ runtime library but the error message only comes up when i restart the computer. Any Help would be appreciated
Hi steelie18 If it is a error you just recently have begun to recieve, you should look at recently new installs and which is a program that is among start-up programs. Alternatively use System restore to bring it back to a date where you didn't get error. Otherwise, you'll have to use the task-manager, and by eliminating process find the trouble-maker. But first you could try start the machine up in safe-mode. If you don't get the error then, it is a program among the start-up programs. Cheers
