awesome i dont know if i have help from 2 diff. people with issues but the overheating seems to be at bay…..any other tests or something so I can pinpoint what has slowed my computer down/reboot on its own(which may have been from heating)–like i said I am not receiving the blue screens really anymore..for some reason. Just an overall slow computer w/ every antivirus that has scanned..showing up nothing, but that 1 rdpwd.sys
Well, you keep mentioning "every anti-virus" you have used. So, if I had to guess at a reason why your computer is so slow its because you have "every anti-virus" that you have.
Just how many anti-virus products do you have installed? Please list all that you have currently installed.
1 antivirus AVG; 1 malware the scans are in reference to going through this for a week with the malware people from spybot forums and they give those scans such as kepysler, registry scans, normal scans…every scan has shown nothing along with those experts checking my hijack logs…no one can answer why my computer is still running very slow…like it has a virus…or it could just be some hardware problem, but i haven't been told that yet.
I dont know what GUI mode is–but in reference to the chksdsk I wrote back that after the command prompt typing it in; then it restarted & It was on a black screen for literally a SPLIT SECOND and it told me that check disk was successful and that was it! It booted up normally after that….I didnt know what to expect
sorry during the split second checkdisk black screen it also said it was "clean"–you said you was going to take awhile..so i dont know what i did wrong I did the command prompt check disk as you said..
Sooo now when i run the chkdsk it freezes on step 4 of 5 at a certain file — 6688 file of like 155,000 files..any idea?
it seems like the chkdsk would have fixed MANY problems but it just wouldn't finish…it stopped on the 6688 file of 150000 for like an hour.
Let it go. Give it a couple hours.
It should not be hung up like that, but to make sure, give it longer. Its a good sign that there is some type of hardware trouble. Step 4 of 5 is during the physical surface scan of the hard drive.
What make and model of laptop was this again?
good god this computer is slowing slowing down…it was weird that logging onto my admin. name and it was basically impossible to open mozilla..but getting on my regular logon name I can type this out! Uhmm.. new info.–it says problems with my system config. (it a microsoft repair it said that)….and with the chkdsk last night it stopped for long time..i left it while i slept so 6 hours of sitting on file 6800 of 155000..ran it today stops on 98 of 150000. (step 4 of 5) really hope its not hardware issue…that dustoff wont fix

don't think ive had a computer running this poorly…but then again its a laptop and my 1st
Yeah.. It sounds like your hard drive is bad. But, that's not definitive yet.
The DV9000 might have a built in hard drive diagnositc utility. You need to restart the computer and enter into the BIOS setup utility.
If you don't know how to get to that, it usually requires that you start pressing F10, or F1 right after the computer turns on. You should see messages on the screen briefly about how to get into BIOS setup. These messages will appear only for a moment right after you power the computer on.
Once you get into BIOS setup look for a hard drive diagnostic utility in the menus. Let the diagnostic run.
Yeah.. The hard drive is bad. At this point, you need to recover any data from the drive while you can that you might need.
The drive will need to be replaced. After which, you can reload the recovery discs or operating system install discs.
