Hi
I apologize for the wait!
No problem and I do also and good work on providing myself with the PC Pitstop results
Here is the situation, several problems have come to light and we will address them one or two at a time so no information load on your behalf.
You have a fair amount of resource intensive software applications installed which can be a cause for one of the system related errors you posted. My advice would be to uninstall anything you barely use and or need. If not sure which inform myself in your next reply and I provide a list of what I deem is unnecessary. This particular problem can also be attributed to the below.
Next:
The currently available installed RAM(Random Access Memory) whilst not totally inadequate. It would be prudent in the future to consider installing some new upgraded memory modules.
Though Microsoft claims XP will run with a mere 128 MB installed in my humble opinion a minimum of 1 GB is far better.
If you wish to upgrade the installed memory,
Crucial have a Active X scanner which is perfectly safe and will advise if your system can support any upgraded memory modules. They cater for the US/UK and Europe.
Referring back to the above a incorrectly sited memory module can also be a cause for one of the system error's mentioned and or a cooling problem. Also for example there is most likely a accumulation of debris around the cooling fans installed. I can advice how to check both of the above but a safe approach would need to be adhered to that includes what is known as a anti-static procedure and actually gaining physical access to the inside of your computer. Do not do anything re the above yet though!
If you are not comfortable about actually doing this inform myself as otherwise the potential for causing damage will be quite high.
Next:
Your Network Driver(a fair few other drivers also but we will address these later) is out of date and it would be advisable to update this as it could well be a cause for your current problems also.
Download the latest up to date Driver from
here <– The one required is under VIA Rhine Family Driver.
To install the driver, save any unsaved work and close all applications then click on the driver download link (above). Choose the "Save File" option and save it to your folder under Windows where you file your drivers. Unzip the file. (To unzip the file right click and highlight "Extract All") Then double click on the Setup.exe file to run the installation program. Follow the prompts and restart at the end of the installation.
Next:
System maintenance is required which we will address however I actually wish for you good self to actually check the Hard-Drive for errors first before do anything proactive as follows:
Check Hard Disk For Errors:
Press
Start->Run, then copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
cmd /c chkdsk c: |find /v "percent" >> "%userprofile%\desktop\checkhd.txt"
A blank command window will open on your desktop, then close in a few minutes. This is normal.
A file icon named
checkhd.txt should appear on your Desktop. Please post the contents of this file in your next reply.
