Can you add wireless to a desktop?

Sure you can. If you already have a router that support wireless connection the only thing you need is either an external or internal device to connect to the router.

An internal network card works best, but is more difficult to build in.

As you can see it should really be built in and that may cause some problems. These cards can be bought at any computer shop or of course online. One thing to watch out for is that you must have free slots in your computer (on the back you can see at the bottom if all layers are filled or not) and what type(s) are free.

Way easier is an external network adapter.

This little stick can be plugged into your computer and it will also do the job. I am not sure whether it does the job less good than an internal one, but if you are close to the router is should not be a problem at all. These are also for sell at any computer shop or online.
