I have been using Auctiva for ebay listings several years…never had a problem
Today while uploading pics, website requested permission to run an active x contol….I did…now there is a tag in chinese on my auctiva home webpage
When I allowed it to run, my icons on the tab browsing bar changed to generic instead of the previous picture icons.
Also, did a control alt delete, and the thing was running, I terminated and it came right back.
Did a system restore and it appears that it went away, not sure yet.
The thing called itself luckffix something, I did a google search and it is claimed to be a trojan of some kind.
I checked Auctiva site at another computer…this thing is there too. I have notified them with a support request…waiting for answer.
Please advise on this "thing"
Here is the "thing's" icon shortcut:
I found this on the Norton website:
Threats found: 1
Here is a complete list:
Threat Name: Trojan.Malscript!html
Sorry about putting those links in there, I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to do that.
Auctiva has removed the servers that were infected, and I see no evidence of the trojan since I did a system restore, I've done two scans and they come up clean….So I guess there is no reason to go any further with this one.
I was pretty freaked out, that's the first time I've ever seen a supposedly secure website get whacked like that.
