Alright, i took a little nap today and when i woke up my wireless connection could not be found. nor could any of the others in the area. i haven't changed anything and it was working before i went to sleep. as far as i know everything is up to date. right now i am directly connected to the router. i'm not really sure what specifics i should give but any ideas would help. thank you!
If all neighbors have lost their connections, I would contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) as it sounds to me they may have a line problem their end.
Sounds like you might mean that you are presently connected "by wire" to your router.
And that before you were able to connect wirelessly.
If that is the situation, there are several things that might have gone wrong, and several steps that you may be able to take to correct the situation.
If it is a simple problem, you might be able to correct it automatically….
Open - Control Panel - Network Connections
Select the wireless connection that had previously been functioning correctly by clicking once to highlight the item.
Next, in the left hand menu on that same panel, Select - Repair this connection.
Let it run its course without doing anything else while it is running the repair.
Let us know what results you get.
If that doesn't work, there are more steps, and more things to consider.
While you are in there (control panel - network connections) look around and write down what the current connections and status looks like.
it was actually just as simple as me accidentally switching off the wireless connection myself instead of putting my computer in standby, the buttons are right next to each other. all fixed now! thank you for the help and suggestions!
