hi all, recently i have bought an HTY Q5 (probably a copy of HTC Touch) PDA from the internet. Everything works well except for Internet Explorer. The WiFi on the PDA finds my router, in this case a SpeedTouch, and connects successfully to it. But when trying to browse the Internet, it fails everytime saying "Error Loading Page". The only time that I am able to browse the Internet on the PDA is when I connect it through ActiveSync to my laptop. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi majorpainmt, I'm not a PDA user and am not familiar with them. However, from your description of connection but no ability to connect/browse the internet... The first thing that I'd attempt to discover is the setting in whatever the browser client is. Make sure in Connections - it should be set to "Auto-Detect Connection or Proxies" or "Connect Automatically" or words to that effect. Best Regards

Hi Doug, thanks for the reply I've checked about the settings and also tried using Opera, instead of Internet Explorer but still with no success. I've been trying to find something similar that uses Windows Mobile 6 and maybe check about the settings but i've had no luck either.

Obtaining signal from your router may be only a minor part of obtaining access to browse the internet.

Like I mentioned in my first reply... I am not a PDA owner/user.
Therefore I am not familiar with the steps for setting up a PDA for access to the internet.
But it appears that there are specific and rigid settings that must be accomplished in order to use your PDA.
It also appears that contact with your ISP may be required to obtain some of the information that you need to set.

Here's a "youtube" demonstration of setting up a different PDA for access to the internet.
Your units settings and requirements may be quite different, but perhaps the video will describe enough for you to be able to ask the correct questions when contacting your ISP.

At this point I, as an individual helper, am probably beyond useless to you.
But I do hope that you will let us know if the setting procedures in the video are similar to your own, and whether or not contacting your ISP is of service to you in getting connected.

It turns out that you may be giving more help than receiving.
If you are feeling generous, you could possibly help many other member/guest readers who may be faced with similar situations.

Hi all, long time no see!

I have been trying to find a solution to the PDA wireless problem I was talking about some time ago, and FINALLY I have found it! What seemed to be a big problem was actually a matter of ticking a couple of boxes, in the right places. Reading other articles about PDA wireless, I found out that different PDA and Smartphone units not always take the same settings. Even though running on the same operating system, that is Windows Mobile 5 or 6, I had to apply different settings from what other users found suitable.

I hope this article will help others who, like me, felt frustrated not being able to unleash the full capabilities of their new toy.

Since the instructions require you to use your own hand held and follow printed instructions, we can consider the procedure safe.... (after looking carefully at the instructions) It may not work for some users, but in such cases it will be possible to reverse the instructions and start over fresh. I can't say the same about the "free ring-tones" download links. <-- CAUTION Free ring-tones, like free pictures or songs or lyrics or whatever, are favorite places for the bad-guys to insert hidden malware. Hi, I totally agree with your cautious approach regards the ad banners displayed on particular websites. The main objective I posted the link was to spread the information which helped me and could also help other users. I hope that users viewing that particular article and other articles supported by ad banners of the same type are fully aware of the risks that these ads may carry with them.
