Hi,

I am not a whizz kid but have been doing my research. I have recently experienced a virus pop up on my computer stating "Zafi.B work detected, click here to purchase the removal software etc etc"

I have downloaded the official Zafi.B removal tool and this has detected no such virus/worm.

I have also had Antivir advise that it has found the TR/Fakealert.AQE.10 Trojan on my computer and it won't delete, quarantine etc. I have done some digging about Fakealert trojans and apparently, they are folks that like to pretend they have malware removal software etc and these trojans give you annoying pop ups telling you your computer is infected so you buy it and then uh oh…you're outta cash.

I have found the file which refuses to be deleted and says it 's in use by another program and it's called: yfijv17721328.exe.VIR

Now I am aware of such antics, I would like to know how I may remove the file? I have included my system scan log from HJT scan and if it is of any interest, for those who may also experience this, I have included a link to some interesting info re a company that has the same name as the culprit that has been targeted also. FYI the below.

I hope this helps. FYI HJT scan log below:

Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant.
Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear.
Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
So lets do this to the end!

  • Save and quit any work your doing before beginning the fix.
  • All hijackthis logs I ask for should be done in normal mode ( not safe mode)
  • These logs should be done last after you have followed my instructions in the previous post.
  • DO NOT be installing new programs while you run Hijackthis.
  • If I do not hear from you in 5 days from my last post this topic will be closed.

Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

yfijv17721328.exe.VIR

This file is created by a tool called combofix. Have you used this tool ?
Using this tiool unsupervised isn't recommended because used wrong will damage your machine.

If you used Combofix I want to see the log from it. Should be located in
C:\ComboFix.txt

download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Transfer/Save it to your desktop on the infected computer.

  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool.
  • Click Yes at the prompt for Optional Scan.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs
  • 1. DDS.txt << I want this one only for now.
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
  • Copy/paste the DDS.txt log to your next reply HERE.
Close the DDS program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection.
Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet. Information on A/V control can be found HERE
