Hi Karhn,

What exactly are you trying to uninstall?

Im uninstalling a program called tuneup utilities 2009 it didn't work properly after the system restore. After i undo the system restore, i wanted to uninstall it since it is not working so i got this error.

I contacted the Tuneup support but this is what they asked me to do,

Please try the following:

1. Click ‚START‘

2. Click ‚Run‘

3. Enter ‚regedit‘ and then hit ‚OK‘

4. Go to ‚HKEY_CURRENT_USER‘ ‚Software‘ and delete the complete data file of
TuneUp

5. next go to ‚HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE‘ ‚Software‘ and delete the complete file
TuneUp

It didn't work it is still on my computer.
Hi Karhn,

It is never advisable to download and install software such as you were trying to uninstall (especially on a 30 day trial period) which has boasted that it will improve your system for you.

If you need help, come and see us, post a detailed thread with your problem as there are many very experienced volunteers here to assist you.

Please do a System Restore to the day before you installed this software to settle your system then reboot, before trying the following:
  • Go to Add and Remove
  • If the program is still there
  • Attempt to uninstall it by the ususal method of clicking 'Remove'
If that fails please read thoroughly the following:

If a built in uninstaller fails then Revo will still remove a program. I won't uninstall anything without using Revo. Even tiny programs uninstallers will leave a huge amount of junk in the registry and/or files and folders. Not with Revo.

If the programs uninstaller fails just keep on going through the steps and it will still be removed.

Download Revo Uninstaller

  • Go in to Revo, right click what you want to uninstall and choose Uninstall.
  • Next choose Advanced Mode
  • This will launch the programs built in uninstaller and go through the normal uninstall process.
  • Once complete: In Revo Uninstaller click Next and Revo will scan the registry for leftovers.
    • This scan can take several seconds.
  • Once the results are shown look at each one to ensure they are all related to the program that was uninstalled.
  • Choose Select All then click Delete
  • Click Next and Revo will scan for any files or folders that were not removed.
  • If any files/folders are found choose Select all > Delete
Always start Revo and begin the uninstall process that way. If not then Revo will be of no use if the uninstall fails. Make very sure you do the System Restore before attemping the Revo uninstall.

Keep us updated with your progress.

By your post including the above quote, I assumed you knew the process of doing a System Restore!
  • Start
  • All Programs
  • Accessories
  • System Tools
  • System Restore and follow the prompts
  • Just go back to the date before you installed the software causing you the trouble.
Best regards,

Karhn,

Please follow my post # 4 step by step, otherwise, wait for another volunteer to reply to your thread. I cannot make my suggestion to you more clear other than in my post # 4.

There is no need to quote my posts back to me in your replies unless you want to bring my attention to a particular part of the post.

kind regards
