I have recently been helped by your staff in removing a bunch of malware from my computer.
The malware removed did not let me download/open anything and restricted my internet.
I give my computer time to load up when first booted, but everything takes forever to load up and do anything.
Also my usb drivers along with my scroll bars do not work.
i have a Dell Inspiron 9300
here is my HJT 📎HJT_for_exf5003.txt
Hi exf5003. I rolled your HJT log into an attached file.
We rarely call for HJT Logs here in the Tech Forums and prefer that they appear only as attached files.
That helps folks know that if they need Malware Removal help, they should post in the Malware Removal Forum.
Since you have already done so, it could be helpful to post a link to the Malware Removal Thread where you have completed your work.
Techs can have a look if necessary and benefit from the work that you've already accomplished.
Since I'm already editing, I'll add the link also. http://forums.whatthetech.com/Help_remove_….html&st=15
Hi exf5003, welcome to the non-malware side of WTT
I read through your malware thread, yuck, what a trial. You still have quite a few programs starting at boot.
How does the system perform if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking?
Also, what are your computer specs? CPU speed, amount of ram, hard drive size, etc?
Hey Ztruker,
I have a laptop that is about 5 years old using windows XP Pro. I use bot IE and Firefox.
In Safe Mode with Networking, it does run faster and everything runs better then normal boot, i would have to say it runs the same speed as before all my problems accord.
I am running an:
Intel Pentium Processor 1.73 GHz
367 MHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Capacity of 88.4GB of hard dive with 49.7 GB of Used and 38.7 GB of Free Space
I should also mention then when i try to reboot or shutdown i always get the message of End Program-ApUsbPnP and i always hit End Now to move things along.
Also, any errors in Device Manager, especially in USB section?
You may try to uninstall all hubs, and roots from USB section. They'll be reinstalled upon reboot.
Check msconfig, and services for ApUsbPnP presence.

Have a look in Event Viewer. Do you see the following errors in Applications? applicationevent IDs 1000, 1500, 1517, 1524
Hey guys thank you for all your suggestions, they have really helped out. My computer does seem to be running a lot better! Thanks so much!
Doug- i did look in Event Viewer for the errors and i did find Event IDs 1000, 1001, 1002, 1517, 5, 51, 46, 1008, 36866 all listed as errors.
I was under safe mode with networking when i tried downloading the UPHClean from that website but a Error Message popped up "Windows Installer- The system administrator has set policies to prevent this Installation."
I tried again in normal mode and i was able to install it fine.
Is there something i can do about this, because this did come up before when i was getting rid of all the malware and it wasnt letting me download anything in normal boot.
It is not always possible to download, install, or even run some applications in SAFE Mode.
I would be "very" careful about exposure to the internet when in SAFE Mode with Networking.
The option is available for specific repair and problem-solving situations.
However, please know and remember that BOTH firewall and antivirus are "turned off" when in SAFE Mode with Networking.
Therefore you are extremely vulnerable and must limit your activity and exposure to the internet.

Hi
Sounds like that malware really have messed up your user-profile.
Did you run the UPHClean tool suggested by Doug? If yes, was it
successful? Do you still have to "end program now" when logging off?
If not, then:
You might be able to benefit from making a new administrative user-account.
You can transfer anything from your old profile to the new one, by following the
guide in the link below.
UPHClean was successful, I have not had any End Program Now messages.
Everything seems to be running back to normal now.
I want to thank everyone for your help and i'll keep all these suggestions in mind.
Thanks again for everything!
