Hi Technical team, I have a problem with my computer where it restarts by itself over and over and then I get a message about a 'serious errror' after a blue screen pops up quickly saying something about 'corrupt....' The computer managed to tell me that it has something to do with hardware/software drivers or devices and then I get a message that it is due to Java and something about Java causing it. It suggested that I uninstall Java but I have not idea what is going on. Please HELP! Thank you in advance.

Hi Paucus, :welcome:

Firstly you have posted twice with the same problem on this forum. Doing this only confuses us, so please refrain from this practise.

Please look at this Tutorial which I link you to with the full permission of Osc, the owner of Help2Go along with full accreditation to the author Mike E.

kind regards,

Hi Tallin, I apologize for the multiple post. I was told by a member from Spybot S&D to post on general hardware and other software. So i apologize. Do you mean I have to go through th malware removal first prior to posting on this section? I posted on Spybot S&D malware forum and was referred to this forum. Please advise as what I should do.

Hi Paucus, No, I do not mean that at all, I was hoping you did not see my previous text on your thread, (this thread) as I mistakenly thought you were someone else...disregard it and follow my existing post to you in answer to your query. That is OK about the posting twice, but you would realize some of us answer posts to Members on some sub-forums using our expertise, and other volunteers on other sub-forums. That is the reason for that rule of thumb. Carry on with the tutorial link I gave you, but post back if that does not help your cause. Best regards,

Hi Paucus,

The first thing we need to find out is what Error Code your Windows is throwing at you.
With your present setting of auto-restart, Windows will barely flash the message so fast that you will not be able to read it in any detail.

So we need to stop the auto-restart feature.
This will result in a stop action, such that a Blue Screen with Error Code information will appear.
The screen will not "disappear" until you take action according to your preference.
Ordinarily, a ctlr-alt-del or Enter to restart your machine manually

Be sure to write down all the information from the Blue Screen for your future reference and for Posting here for assistance.

Here's how to turn off auto-restart: (you can turn it back on after you are finished with this repair by reversing the same steps)

1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
2. Go to Advanced
3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings
4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

In your Next Reply: Please post the entire "first line" of the Error Code

If you have made good progress with the off-site link provided by Tallin, I will wish you well and invite you to return to WTT for future needs and problem-solving that may arise. If you do prefer interactive and/or step-by-step assistance, you are welcome to post back with the Error Code as noted above and one of our Techs will be better able to assist. Thanks for visiting WTT Forums. Doug P.S. I've Merged your two Topic Threads so that all assistance will be consolidated in one place for your convenience and to avoid duplication or conflicting information that could otherwise arise. Don't worry about the prior two postings or that they have been Merged, it sometimes happens when folks are just getting familiar with a new Forum. No Problem. We're glad to have you here.

TO WHAT THE TECH: I am sorry that I am taking some time in between replies. The problem I posted with BSOD is with this laptop that I am working with right now. IT IS VERY TEMPERMENTAL, similar to a 8 year old. SO, please bear with me. I am only able to get to use the computer by holding down the power button to power down and re-power on the laptop. I also forgot to mention that since this BSOD thing, I have been getting an error message with Internet Explorer (ocassionally) saying that it encountered a problem and will need to close. This happens randomly also as with the restart thing. WIth that stated, I will update as what I have tried so far. RE: TUTORIAL advice posted by TALLIN, I followed the instructions and had 2 different minidump files so I used windbg to find out what is causing the crash. On the 113008 minidump file, it said that NTFS.sys is the cause of the problem under IMAGE NAME. The 12008 minidump file states that POOL_CORRUPTION is the culprit. I googled the ntfs.sys and found out that I would have to essentially do a HARD RESET to resolve the problem. Since I think this is not the best option for me due to the loss of all my files and info and software re-installation that needs to be done. I hope not to do this UNLESS it ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. NOTE: I went to check the minidump files again today and there are no files (the previous files disappeared). I do not know what happened. Consequently, i thought that I want to give the advice DOUG posted (assuming it does not mean a hard reset) to see if DOUG or anyone else can help me find the problem(s) and remedy it or them. ATTENTION: DOUG I followed your advice to uncheck the auto restart and have not been able to get the laptop to give the blue screen again so I can copy down all the information you mentioned I should note to post back up on this thread. DID I MENTIONED this laptop is tempermental like a child. :pullhair: So as soon as I get the BSOD information and manage to get back on the laptop to post, I will post immediately. I apologize in advance for any other delays in response, but please be patient with me as I want to fix the problem if possible. This post is a bit lengthy but I thought I post as much as I got in terms of info and results of advice follow while I can with this laptop.

Paucus,

The advantage of receiving help via Forum, is that there are a variety of folks from around the world, all with different skill-sets, so that most often you will find someone who has some familiarity with the computer and problem that you may be having.

Don't worry about delays between Posting. WTT has been here for a long time and will continue to be here when you get back to post your next update.

Of course we most importantly want to know what was happening "just before" a Blue Screen failure, AND the exact ERROR Code that is presented.
(computers are like cars, they never show the problem when you are at the mechanic's garage, but wait until you are at the most distant location before acting up

Write down the ERROR Code, so you can post it.
We can also have a look in Event Manager, to see the history of Errors.
Are you familiar with Event Manager?

Please download Everest 2.20 (free) from the following location.
http://majorgeeks.co...wnload4181.html

Save it to Desktop or your preferred location.
Run Everest.
From the results Panel, Select - Computer - Summary
Next Click on Reports from the Command Bar at the top of Everest
Select - Quick Report - Summary - HTML and save it to your desktop.
Upload the Report as an attached file, in your next Reply

Reporting from Everest will give us a quick overview of the physical aspects of your machine.
___________________________

Next:
Download and Run CodeStuff - Starters

Please consider running this simple utility that will help you get control of programs and processes that you wish to have running active, or not.

CodeStuff-Starters
http://www.snapfiles...et/Starter.html

Download and install, agreeing to the licensing terms and allow to install with all of the default settings as preselected in the installation wizard.

When you finally allow CodeStuff-Starters to run
It will preselect StartUps Tab
  • Click on File
  • Select - save as HTML (name the report file - Startups Oct30.html)

In your next reply, post the file as an attached file (use browse and upload buttons -- at the bottom-right corner of your topic posting window where you are typing your next reply)

Between the two we will have a beginning of the info necessary to assist you from a more informed point of view.

Don't worry - Format and Re-install is the very very last resort and hardly ever recommended, since most problems can be solved short of that extreme action.

Best Regards,
Doug

Attached File  Startups_Oct30.html   10.2KB   313 downloads Attached File  EverestReport_120208.htm   52.24KB   95 downloads Hi Doug, Thank you again for helping me with this. My tempermental child...I mean...laptop :) is being not so bad right now. Okay, i follow your advice for the Startups program and Everest program. I have attach the file for each. Also, I have the BSOD crash screen information for this crash today. The BSOD says: ---A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage. MEMORY_MANAGEMENT Then the TECH INFORMATION ***Stop:0x0000001A (0x00041284, 0x03F28001, 0x00001991, 0xc0883000) This is the end of the message on the screen. NOTE: This BSOD message this time is different from the last time, I saw something about CORRUPT...last time but not this time. I do not know if this helps. ALSO, I am including an ERROR REPORT CONTENTS info on a pop up when I re-powered/restarted from the crash listed above. C:\Docume~\....\locals~1\temp\WER1298.dir00\Mini120208-01.dmp C:\Docume~\....\locals~1\temp\WER1298.dir00\sysdata.xml END OF REPORT. Lastly, I mentioned that my IE crash sporadically since this problem. When this happens, I get a pop up message with the information. The very last one, I am listing what i could gather: ModName: Jscript.dll App Ver. 7.0.6000.16735 The previous time IE crashed, the message said something about flash related to Adobe that caused it. Sorry, I did not think to jot down the entire contents for these incidences. I will remember to do so when it happens again if you need this. Thanks and Thanks again!

Gosh Paucus,

From what you were saying earlier, I was kinda expecting to see a much older, less well provisioned machine.
Instead, you have a fine machine there.

Question:
When did this problem of Blue Screens start appearing?
Especially, for instance, did it only start after you updated to SP3?

Most often, with that particular Stop Code, I would be suspicious of your RAM.
But with recently updating to SP3, I am more suspicious of the "memory handler".

Do your have update #931784 installed?
You can find all of your updates and patches listed in Control Panel - Add/Remove
If they are not currently being displayed, then please place a checkmark/tick in the box at the top of the Panel --> x Show updates
Take no action at this time regarding #931784. just confirm present or not?

I'll await your information about time "when" the Blue Screen started happening.
Post any new Error Codes or Stop Codes as you encounter them.

Is there anything in particular that you are doing with the computer just before Blue Screens appear?
For instance, running various software, or viewing video, or running scans in the background?

Best Regards

Hi Doug, My laptop was purchased 2 years ago after my Gateway 200x Arc series' video monitor died (blue lines) and it would have cost me around $300 then to replace it. So I decided to go with IBM thinking it is a reliable machine. Anyway, I will answer the questions you asked in order and then post the error messages i have encountered since my last post. RE:When did this problem of Blue Screens start appearing? Especially, for instance, did it only start after you updated to SP3? ANSWER: The Blue screen start on November 30th (Sunday night) when I left my laptop on (unattended) and after a while I noticed that the laptop just started to restart by it self. This did not cause any concern since I have Windows update set to auto downloads and restart after recent updates. But then I saw a quick blue screen and the rest is when I contact the forum for help. I am not sure if it is POSITIVELY the update that caused it. I DID NOTICE (when checking for the #931784 update) that there was a display showing that Windows Driver update (12/01/08) and it was about the same time this problem occurred. RE: Most often, with that particular Stop Code, I would be suspicious of your RAM. But with recently updating to SP3, I am more suspicious of the "memory handler". ANSWER: I upgraded the RAM capacity to the maximum (2GB) but this was a long time ago. About shortly after purchasing the laptop (year 2006) I do not know if this information helps you so I thought I just mention it. RE: Do your have update #931784 installed? ANSWER: I checked and double checked (with the show update box checked) and do not see this number in the windows update, or office update or other updates. END OF Q & A. NOW FOR THE ERROR CODES: I encounter several since my last post (all start with the PAGES_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA message) 1. PAGES_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Technical Information: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE4B4E260, 0x0000000, 0x8054c045, 0x0000001) 2. Tech information: STOP: 0x0000008E (0x00000050, 0x0000000, 0x8054B51A, 0x00000000) 3. Tech information: STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFA8, 0x00000000, 0x8054BOBA, 0x00000000) 4. Tech information: STOP: 0x00000050 (0xBB6C61E5, oxoooooooo, 0x805E15EB, 0x00000002) 5. Tech information: STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xA6910744, 0xA6910440, oxB9E2EE43 .....Okay this one has the addtional information below: NTFS.SYS ---Adress B9E2EE43 base at B9E04000, DateStamp 48025be5 END OF ERROR MESSAGES. I have also encounter a lot more IE crashes prompting me to close IE immeddiately (essentially almost every time i open IE and with certain web pages such as gmail, WTT, and others) so I jotted down what I could when it crashed. This one said it was due to an ADD-ON: Flash10a.ocx from Adobe Systems Incorporated. Another crashed occurred with windows explorer and it said it was due to: MSHTML.dll WinExplorer Mod Name: Shell32.dll END OF ALL REPORTS. Wow, that was quite a bit of information. I really hope those things will provide you some insight into why my laptop is doing this all of a sudden. Lastly, these BSOD is occurring with more regularity now. I seem to be able to get on the laptop if I power down for a while and then reboot up again. BUT this is also not guaranteed. Thank you!

Hi Doug, I just wanted to update you as to what I have done with my laptop, ultimately (I think) because I have NO choice. I saved all my important files on an external HD when I finally got a chance to log on without it crashing. Since this is my only computer, I decided to do a complete format of my laptop to reset all the settings to the original factory settings. I am hoping that this will resolve the issues I have been experiencing. I am sorry about starting this tech help and then re-formatting anyway, but I have to have a computer as soon as possible to work with. My choices are to re-format, purchase a new laptop or continue with your help (in this case, I am anticipating the time in between the exchanges between us but I am so fustrated with this laptop that I just went ahead with the reformat) I hope I do not have to post here for any issues after the re-format BUT I will update again after the format as to the status and/or if these issues remain. IF THE problems continue afterwards, then I have to get your help again or if you advise so to purchase a new laptop. Thank you.

More than likely that will get you started freshly. Sorry you had to go to that extreme, but I do appreciate the time constraints and your needing the computer for productivity. You are more than welcome to post any time... Even to just check in and browse around or give an update, or help another. Best Regards.

Hi Doug, Okay, I did the hard reset as per the instructions in my Lenovo user's manual. The reason I am posting is the following: Firstly, my computer is a Lenovo 3000 N100 model with an upgrade RAM to the max of 2GB. So, I did the reset to the factory settings and all I have been seeing on the screen is a dialog box saying "processing...please wait" with an hour glass icon that continuously inverts itself. The screen is not frozen because I can click on other things and these will come up with the aforementioned dialog box reverting into the background. The manual states that the reset process may take up to 2 hours. The problems(?)...I do not know if anything is wrong...is that I started the reset process yesterday at 5pm and left it to run until I checked it at 10:15pm and it was still running at the same screen without any progress noted. So I thought it may have frozen and I stopped the process and restarted it again at 10:30pm and decided to leave it on until there are new developments or until it is finished. IT IS now 12:55pm EST the following day and the same screen is on without any progress noted. My questions for you are: Is this the normal even though the manual states up to 2 hours? Is there something wrong/ something has frozen or in a loop cycle? What should I do? It has been over 14 hours straight at that screen without a reset. Please help or provide me with any advice possible. Thank you so much in advance.
