I have Dell Inspiron 6400 (Intel Duo Core T2400 processor and 1 GB RAM). One bad day it showed blue screen. I decided to reinstall windows XP. While installing it has been failing with message that unable to copy windows files.
When I ran Dell Diagnostic tools, it failed at L2 Cache (Multiprocessor) - Random Access Thrash Test with message Data error at address d1d64. All other tests are running fine.
Could any one help me out in fixing this issue.
Thanks in Advance.
Sagar
CPU cache is a very small storage area used just for CPU instruction, it can be on a chip on the mainboard or on the cpu itself. only thing I can think of is over heating, but i would think that would cause a lot of other problems that would be evident. Not much help to you.
you should poke around the Dell web site, they have good troubleshooting info/guides and a forum. Maybe also visit the Intel website and look around. Cant speak for the Intel web site as i use AMD processors, most likely they also have good troubleshooting info and support forums.
Hi Sagar,
I'm also facing the same issue in my laptop. My laptop model is also same as yours.
Can you please tell me how your problem was solved?
Please tell me ASAP.
Thanks& Regards
Atul
