Boxes With red "X"s & no graphics
54 min read
I did NOT have this problem until just recently…It worked fine until Windows Defender asked for a "Key" (?) change & I permitted it…That's only my theory ..It was solved by a system restore & help from "tallin"..The server you are downloading the page (or E-mail) from will time out because of the amount of time it takes to download the image(s).
Your download stops when this happens so the images are not downloaded
I prefer not to use the library idea because I'm not at all familiar with flash drives…I'm a newbie & not there yet…
When I win my $1 mil
Thanks for your input , it IS appreciated….Later…..
Thanks for the attachments, and you have done well sending them as they are always helpful in a case such as this.
Startup tab
Disable Realsched untill you decide to uninstall RealPlayer.
To find what the other items in your startup tab are go to this link and with a little search you will be advised whether it is safe to disable them.
Services tab
Uncheck Windows Defender
Uncheck Windows Media Player
Please check if Windows Audio is on Automatic in Services as follows:
- Right Click on My Computer on your desktop
- Scroll to Manage
- Double Click on Services and Application in the left pane
- Double Click on Services in the right pane
- Extend the box by putting your mouse over the lower right bottom corner and drag to extend
- Click Startup type tab at the top to bring all items into alphabetical order
- Find Windows Audio
- It should show on Automatic
- If not, double click on it
- Properties, and change it to Automatic
kind regards,
….Done , done , & done….Disable Realsched untill you decide to uninstall RealPlayer….Uncheck Windows Defender……
Uncheck Windows Media Player..
Windows Audio is & was on Automatic in Services …….
Thanks….See ya later……..
Best regards,
I re read Post #58, understand your query.
I must run your tool myself to see what it tells me, although I know the answer for this PC as the RAM is at full capacity….
crucial.com will not work for me as this is a custom built PC with no named manufacturer.
best regards,
…RE: System specs…–>Please let me know how & where to get this info for you.,… "try running the System Scanner Tool?"..<– If you are reffering to crucial.com , Yes I did…But I didn't get any specs on the card I need…All they did was cross-reference to a compatible card for me to buy…More on this topic later…Ron, what are the specification for your system, or, did you try running the System Scanner Tool? Either way, It will tell you exactly what you need.
..I did both manually & ran a scan…I'm on a Dell Optiplex GX1…398Mhz….Old but good comp , so far…Crucial did not give me any help…What info I got there , I can get from my comp…Not enough , tho….Maybe I didn't use Crucial properly…In Ron's post #58, all he said was he used the link, he did not say if he entered the information manually or ran the tool. I'd like to know which method he used and would also like to know the make/model of his computer as I've never known Crucial to not give the information needed to buy memory. I'd like to check it myself it possible
I'm really impressed with SIW… Awesome ! ! …..That program tells you everything about your comp…Way more than I'll ever understand…
Now for tallin:
Pretty much so , About 98%…I still get a few red "Xs" but I blame the websites for those…So are you telling me all is now okay with your system?
Ztruker & tallin…Crucial.com is selling one 256MB card for $33.99 + shipping…That is not a reasonable price for just one card…I have shopped & bought items from eBay.com….(You must use caution there)…There are currently at least 468 memory cards up for auction…A lot of them will not work in my comp..That's why I need specs…( Have them now , thanks to SIW ) They range from $0.99 <–not a typo…some with free shipping on up…(BTW , this is a new card ) …
I still am having a problem trying to determine if I need a high or low density card as one type may cause a problem or not work at all…Help on this will be appreciated…
The 2 original cards were PC100 @ 168MB…I replaced them with PC133 @ 256MB…I do not know the density of these cards or how to find out…
See ya later…..& Thankx……

The quote below is from this link How to Determine RAM Density
Step 3: How To Determine RAM Density
It's hard to figure out the density of a DIMM because there are multiple industry "standards" on how describe a DIMM, many of which are contradictory. Some retailers list the capacity of each DRAM unit in MB and the number of DRAM units on the DIMM. For example, a 256 MB 16X16 PC133 Non-ECC Unbuffered DIMM has 16 DRAM chips, and each chip is 16 MB in size. The density of each DRAM unit is found by multiplying 16 MB by 8 to get the value in bits rather than bytes (one byte is 8 bits). In this case, the density is 128 Mb.
kind regards,
My error…That should have read 128MB..not 168MB…The 2 original cards were PC100 @ 168MB…
Step 3 is a little confusing to understand , but I think I got it…
Thanks for your help…See ya later….
thanks for posting back, good luck.
I am sure your system will improve once you get that new RAM installed.
Tip: please don't go too cheaply with the purchase of RAM as you only get what you pay for as the saying goes in Oz…I am sure you would have the same of similar saying over where you live!
kind regards,
