ctfmon and ctfmon.exe

I have ctfmon in my startup menu on my desktop and both ctfmon.exe and ctfmon on my laptop. Should I remove one of the 0nes on my laptop? Also Google only discusses ctfmon.exe and not ctfmon -please explain. Thank you

hello Grampy pete,
Here is a Microsoft article that has the information that you want.
If you scroll down the article tells you how to keep the program from running at start up.
Some times the exe extension is not shown after the program name.

Thanx for the reading; I was concerned about some malware but all seems ok.
