[Rob Adams]

This started happening after I installed BitDownload... I guess that was a bad idea. Anyway I'm now getting hammered by Internet Explorer pop-ups that say, "CiD:pagename" in the title bar.

I gratefully thank anyone who can tell me what to kill and how...

BTW, while I was waiting yesterday I performed the following tasks based on other recommendations on this site:

1. ran ATF-Cleaner with all selected
2. ran Malwarebytes
3. ran a full scan using SuperAntivirus and deleted the items found

However, those CiD: windows are still popping up, sometimes with audio playing. I've had to turn off my speakers because one of the pop-ups woke up my baby...

Click on do a system scan only.

Unfortunately though, when I tried to remove programs from your list, only CID helper showed up in my list. None of the others were there... should I be worried?

Also, since doing these actions I have yet to see a new CiD: popup window... fingers crossed. I'll reply again tonight with a confirmation of this if it's fixed.

• Save it to your desktop.
• Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) .
http://java.sun.com/...loads/index.jsp
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment JRE 6 Update 6 allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

I did the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer as you described and everything worked. But I lost my clipboard of the results when I restarted during the java update.

DownLoad CCleaner

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder,
back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

Download CCleaner to clean temp files from your computer.

Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
Select your language and click OK, then next.
Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted.
(If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.

• Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
• A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
• Click "OK"
• CCleaner will scan and clean your system.
• When cleaning is complete:
• Click "Exit".
• Repeat for all usernames.

We now need to run a online scan, but please make sure you run CCleaner on every user account, this
cut down on scan time and log size


1 - Kaspersky Online Scan
With the exception of Internet Explorer, which must be used for this scan, keep ALL programs closed
Please do an online scan with >Kaspersky Online Scanner<. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the licence accepted, reset to 100%.

• The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
• Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
• Now click on Scan Settings
• In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
  o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  + Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
  o Scan Options:
  + Scan Archives
  + Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK
• Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Please do not use your computer while the scan is running. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
• Click the Save Report As... button (see red arrow below)
  
  
  
• In the Save as... prompt, select Desktop
• In the File name box, name the file KasScan-ddmmyy (or similar)
• In the Save as type prompt, select Text file (see below)
  
  
  
• Copy and paste the report in your next post.

Note: It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans so there are no conflicts and to speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware application you use.

Your HJT log is now clean, and I take it the popups have not returned, the Kaspersky online scan header you posted showed
no infection, so you are finished and clean.

But first we need to clean up

Let's clear out the programs we've been using to clean up your computer, they are not suitable for general malware removal and could cause damage if used inappropriately.

• Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe.
• Click the CleanUp! button.
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Please go to your desktop and delete Deljob.exe, also delete it's log from your C Drive (logit.txt)

I would keep Malwarebytes you installed as it's a great tool, keep it updated run a weekly scan with it, the
same goes for CCleaner, use it weekly to clean out unneeded files.


Update Adobe Reader to 8.1.2

• Please uninstall Adobe Reader 8 before installing the latest version by going to Start > Control Panel and double clicking on Add/Remove Programs. Locate Adobe Reader 8 and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it.
• Click here to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
• Select your Windows version and click on Download. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will receive prompts. Allow the installation to be ran and it will be installed automatically for you.
  
  If you are using other browsers, it will prompt you to save a file. Save this file to your desktop and run it to install the latest version of Adobe Reader.
• Close your Internet browser and open it again.

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

• Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
  
• Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
  
• Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
  
• Select the More options tab
  
• Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.
  
  This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

You need to be a little carefull in what you download and install, before you install a program search online to see what experience
other users have had with it, also a very good program that you can install is EULAlyzer 1.2 from the makers of spyware blaster,
It works by Analyze license agreements of software for interesting words and phrases, before you install the software,

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately,
reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.


Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish).
If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
