Strange Firewall message

Yesterday I was playing a game that took up all the screen. And all of a sudden the game gets minimized. I see a message from Zone Alarm that has the title: You are Protected. It's in red. The message said NetBios is trying to access the internet and was blocked. Below that it said message 1 of 11. So I click close since that was the only option to click. Then I re-maximize the game I was playing. And for a while I would have times of the game lagging heavily followed by times in between where things ran fine. Eventually the laggin stopped. Does this sound like there was a hack attempt. And if there was why would a hack cause things to lag? What should I do at this point to check if I was haceked? I don't see anything different today with my pc. Thanks. Hope veryone is having a good Memorial Day.

It's certainly possible you have some kind of malware on your system that is trying to use your internet connection for some nefarious purpose. Go to the Welcome New Members forum, read the info there and follow the posted directions. Once you receive a clean bill of health, come back here if you have any additional questions or concerns.
