Hello! I am a new user to the forum. I have been putting this off for a while because I'm afraid the fix may be very extensive and I didn't want to deal with that. However, it is something that needs to be fixed. The problem is with my Avertec 5500 series laptop. My connection doesn't matter, as it happens no matter how I'm connected. As you will be able to see from my Hijack This log, I have a version of Freecell on my machine that I use often. I can play the game for minutes or hours without any trouble. If I close the game and go to the Internet (using Firefox) almost as soon as I get connected the computer switches completely off. I push the start button and it starts to power up again and within seconds trips off again. When I push the power butter a third time, it will come on, boot up and stay on until I get ready to shut down. It goes through the entire shutdown cycle and all internal motion seems to stop, but the screen remains on with the windows shutdown screen displayed. It is "off" but not completely deenergized. I then have to press the power button momentarily to turn it completely off. Here is my log.

As you can see, I run protective programs to prevent infections, but I think something is on the machine that entered before I got the right programs to stop it.

Thanks in advance. I hope you can help.
