hi everyone. i got virumonde and smitfraud and whatever other virus trojans there were. my friend ended up formating my computer and put vista instead of xp back on. well, heres my issue underneath. when playing videos online (like cbs, etc) mostly flashplayer apps, it is terrible. always bufffers, quality rots, etc. my iexplorer.exe is using like between 90,000 k and 104,000 k my computer useage is at 60-80% sitting still. when i open any browser, my cpu useage goes to 100% and is slow. when i do control/alt/delete to get task manager up, explorer crashes closing all browsers and says "APPCRASH" I Used to be able to watch videos on it, via cbs, and cwtv .com's and now, it constantly buffers, has real poor quality……….. also, a program called CCLEANER he installed, shows like 30-50 issues with the regristy. it says "fix selected" but i DID NOTHING. my friend installed memory on this, 2 gig, but when i did a memory test, it says its only working 1/2 as good as it should i have been reading about how to change cache size, and for memory etc. but i want someone with experience to tell me what to do. thanks in advance. dan
Hi danny1970

Youre friend put Vista on it? That will say not your OS but his or a crack??

Please verify if the Vista OS is in fact yours with legit key and all.

Apart from that, you sure you're PC is Vista ready? LINK1, LINK2

im not sure what you mean about legit key, but i just went and did a microsoft genuine software download that verifys my copy is my copy, and not pirated, and it come back good. if you want something other, let me know. i dont have the numbers here. i downloaded a file to do compatibility for my computer from xp to vista home. it said i could run ultimate vista. its a DELL E1705 with 2 gig memory (just added) however, when i did a pcpitstop scan, it said my memory is only about 1/2 of what it should be. its supposed to be brand new.. $70.00 worth. it has an integrated video? so theres no card i guess. anything else you need, let me know. thanks
Hi Danny1970 Could you post that test-reult from PcPitstop. Find the box with summary links( Upper right corner), and find the one named TechExpresslink. Thats the full link I need to view your test-result. Regards Abydos
Hi again Danny1970

I've had a look at your test. And there may be some work to do. But first, let me tell you, that one of the first thing that caught
my eye, was that you weren't running any type of security programs!! Not a single one  ……How about firewall?

Before going ahead doing alot of tune-ups, rectify wrong settings etc. You / we need to be sure that we are working with a clean
malware-free machine, otherwise, any work done may be for naught.

I am sincerely of the opinion that you should post a HijackThis log over at the malware removal forum. Just to be sure you aren't infected. Any HJT logs should be posted here

In the meantime:

enable windows firewall if disabled.
Download this free Antivirus program, run update right away: AVG-Antivirus

When you are sure that your machine is clean, you're welcome to post back in this thread. And we'll try fix anything needed for your machine to run smooth.

Evidently pcpitstops does not consider this legitimate?

ESET Smart Security Eset spol s r. o. AntiSpyware AntiVirus Firewall Mar 25, 2008

I would advise going into power settings as the test reccomended and turning off powersavings(only use ac power) and retest

dell also has a new vista driver for the graphics

I'll take that one on my hat, didn't see that you had ESET installed. My fault.
