Please post a fresh HijackThis log and we will see if there are any programs that do not need to run all the time. Eliminating some of these may well speed up your machine.

1. Your major problem is you have way too many security programs running at the same time. Symantec Suites are a huge resource hog but you are stuck with that.

2. You have Realtime AntiSpyware protection running on 3 different programs at once. That is killing your system. Make a choice between WinPatrol, Spybot TeaTimer and the AOL Suite of products. You should only have one of them running in Real time Protection Mode. That does not mean that you have to uninstall the other two, just disable their RealTime Protection through the programs themselves.

3. The following items do not need to be run at startup and continue to run all the time. To stop them from automatically starting every time you stat up your system, run HijackThis, click SCAN and place a checkmark beside the following entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [High Definition Audio Property Page Shortcut] HDAudPropShortcut.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BJCFD] C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AOLDialer] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLDial.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HostManager] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1132322609\ee\AOLSoftware.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [Picasa Media Detector] C:\Program Files\Picasa2\PicasaMediaDetector.exe (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [Picasa Media Detector] C:\Program Files\Picasa2\PicasaMediaDetector.exe (User 'Default user')
O4 - Global Startup: HotSync Manager.lnk = C:\Program Files\Palm\Hotsync.exe
O4 - Global Startup: HOTSYNCSHORTCUTNAME.lnk = C:\Program Files\Palm\Hotsync.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

Once all the items above (and below) are checked off, with all windows closed except HijackThis, click Fix checked and EXIT the program.

Now Restart your system. and please post back about the improvement in the performance of your system.

The following items are up to you to decide if you absolutely need to have them on all the time. If you do not, add them to the list above:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hpsysdrv] c:\windows\system\hpsysdrv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AOL Spyware Protection] "C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\AOLSPY~1\AOLSP Scheduler.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Google Desktop Search] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe" /startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [FaxCenterServer] "C:\Program Files\Lexmark Fax Solutions\fm3032.exe" /s
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [YSearchProtection] "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Search Protection\SearchProtection.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinPatrol] C:\Program Files\BillP Studios\WinPatrol\winpatrol.exe -expressboot

Now you are saying to yourself, "How am I supposed to know what all these things do?" Good question:

You will find an excellent database which clearly explains their individual functions here:

http://www.castlecops.com/StartupList.html

Just copy/paste the name between the [….] into the Search box and you will get enough information on the entry to make your decision.
I hope you are well and not experiencing any difficulties carrying out my last set of instructions. If you are, do not hesitate to ask for further explanations. If however, your problem has been solved or you no longer require our assistance, please advise us accordingly and we will archive your topic.
