hye silver….erm..im doing the fix.reg thingy.i did it numerous times (in a variety of possible ways i can think of) but wen i click the icon it comes with a pop up telling me that its not a valid win32 application.please help..thanx
Which set of instructions are the "2nd set"? Do you mean the alternative method in my previous post using Start->Run ?
Please confirm which set of instructions you were following, and if you can recall, the exact error.
Also tell me how your computer is behaving right now.
Then make new DSS reports as follows:
Make sure DSS.exe is on your Desktop
Press the Start->Run, copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
A configuration box will appear, click the Check All button and press Scan!
hye silver, i think im aving difficulties coz im not a techy person…i juz hope im not troubling u .yes, the 2nd instruction was the 1 i followd n it said no disk or file system error.it was pretty short. Of late the comp has been less irritating.i still get popups asking me to send reports MOST (it used to be everytime) of the time i close the internet explorer.the is sumthing new though, it goes sumthing like : the instruction at "0x085e262" referenced memory at "0x000000". the memory could not be written. It happens wen i close the internet explorer too.wen i close one tab,the instructions (the 1st or 2nd and sumtimes both) will popup n all the tabs and other windows will close….for instance, to add this reply, it took me two times to relogin…
Don't worry, I'm more than happy to help you don't need to be a techy person for us to clean you machine and if you have any further difficulties please just let me know and we'll work through them together.
Please try the following, if something doesn't work then stop and let me know:
Next press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command (it's one long command) into the box and press OK:
Press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /daft
Press OK to the disclaimer(s) and then press Scan

If the DSS instructions worked OK, then try fix.reg again:

Once complete, please tell me how you got on with that.
