I use AVG to protect my machine from viruses and it has picked up trojans Generic9.AQNO (and similar names) and BHO>DFZ consistently over the past 4 days. I 'heal' them, but they keep coming back. My computer seems to be a lot slower since their arrival. can you help?

Many thanks

hi,

try this new anitmalware app:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop:

http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

after the above: reboot computer once, rescan and post a new hjt log along with the malwarebytes log in your reply
Thanks for your help. I had some problems with Malwarebytes in that when I removed selected it crashed before completing the process and I had to repeat the scan a few times. It finally succeeded but the log shows only 4 objects removed when really there were 27 originally found and the quarantine area now holds 39 objects. By the way the first two scans I scanned A:\ C:\ and Z:\ not just Z:\

Anyway here are the saved malware logs and the latest HJT log

hi,

thanks for the info. you might try running antimalwarebytes in safe mode.
to reach safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer reboot. chose the first option from the list safe mode.

can you give me a description of the problem, like are you getting popups, page redirects etc?

also download and run vundofix either before or after the above.
please post the new log and the vundolog:

download and run vundofix.exe:

http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.
The original problem was pop up windows saying my computer was under threat and suggestions that porn was being downloaded. I haven't had any problems since Thursday. I will try running vundofix
Here is the Vundofix.txt - looks clean

Thanks

hi LittleBern, ok good. no popups. start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked" O20 - Winlogon Notify: tuvvtur - tuvvtur.dll (file missing) if all is good you can make a new restore point like this: One of the features of Windows ME or XP is the System Restore option, however if a malware infects a computer with this operating system it can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is a good idea after malware is removed. To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account. (winXP) 1. Turn off System Restore. (deletes old possibly infected restore point) On the Desktop, right-click My Computer. Click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Check Turn off System Restore. Click Apply, and then click OK. 2. Reboot. 3. Turn ON System Restore.(new restore points on a clean system) On the Desktop, right-click My Computer. Click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*. Click Apply, and then click OK, then reboot i have some prevention tips at my website below. happy safe surfing. shelf life
