I just got Trojans fixed about a week ago, and new ones popped up while AVG was scanning, these weren't able to be healed though and I have no idea what they are, hopefully someone can help me. Here's an image:

Hi jordan23,

Please update your AVG definitions - right-click the AVG icon in your system tray and select Check for Updates, install any updates that are available.

Once you have successfully updated, scan your machine again and let me know if there are any detections.
My AVG definitions are updated every time I log on to the computer, but after like 2 days, AVG hasn't brought those trojans up again, I don't know how they just disappeared because AVG wasn't able to heal them. Is there anything wrong with my log?
Hi jordan23,

Your HijackThis log looks fine. Those detections are almost certainly false positives, other users have reported the same issue with those files and AVG have resolved the issue with the latest definitions.

We can double-check the file by uploading it for scanning:

Open http://virusscan.jotti.org/
Copy/paste this file and path into the white box at the top:

C:\hp\bin\Python-2.2.3.exe

Press Submit - this will submit the file for testing.
Please copy and paste the results in your next response.
File: Python-2.2.3.exe Status: OK(Note: this file has been scanned before. Therefore, this file's scan results will not be stored in the database) MD5: d76e774a4169794ae0d7a8598478e69e Packers detected: VBSCOMMENT Bit9 reports: No threat detected (more info) Scanner results Scan taken on 23 Jul 2007 02:28:12 (GMT) A-Squared Found nothing AntiVir Found nothing ArcaVir Found nothing Avast Found nothing AVG Antivirus Found nothing BitDefender Found nothing ClamAV Found nothing CPsecure Found nothing Dr.Web Found nothing F-Prot Antivirus Found nothing F-Secure Anti-Virus Found nothing Fortinet Found nothing Kaspersky Anti-Virus Found nothing NOD32 Found nothing Norman Virus Control Found nothing Panda Antivirus Found nothing Rising Antivirus Found nothing Sophos Antivirus Found nothing VirusBuster Found nothing VBA32 Found nothing
Looks good, I don't think you have to worry about those detections. Do you have any other symptoms or reasons to suspect infection?
I keep getting a tracking cookie on Ad-Aware everytime, but it keeps coming back, with a rating of 3, is there any way to get rid of it.. BTW, does AVG run through hidden files too when it scans?
Hi jordan23,

You can delete cookies whenever you want, but in order to prevent cookies being set you need to set your browser to block them or use protection software to do this.

An easy way to block many unwanted cookies from both Internet Explorer and Firefox is to use SpywareBlaster. You can download Spywareblaster from here and a tutorial to help you get started is available here.

AVG scans files 'hidden' by Windows, however it isn't able to necessarily see files hidden by malware (rootkits). Do you still have symptoms or concerns about infection?
No need, the 'show hidden files/folders' setting is only for Windows Explorer i.e. when a user browses the file system - it has no effect on the visibility of files to antivirus programs.
