When i use the Santa Cruz soundcheck
it detects my sound card, the hardware is ok
but it says the software does not respond and error restoring santa cruz settings
no audio comes from games, music, or video due to a recent virus problem
im not sure how to repair this problem since i dont think i ever had a cd for it

Sorry to hear of the problems with your machine.
I see you have posted an HJT log in the malware removal forum, so it would be sensible for us to refrain from recommending any system changes to you until your HJT log has been analysed by a malware removal expert and the cleaning process completed. (we don't want to make their job even more difficult than it is already!)
I saw that you had replied to your own post in the malware removal forum by sending in an updated HJT log……this might possibly delay things a bit as the malware experts tend to look for unanswered posts first.
