Hi,
I have recently noticed my home page was hi-jacked to the IESTART page. Also POP-ups for CiD were appearing.
I removed CiD , I think ,using add/remove programs and I have reset my home and search page back to google but would like confirmation that there are no remnants around causing problems. The pop-ups for CiD are no longer happening and my home page has been stable.
I have run Spybot S&D, and Ad-aware as well as a full virus scan.
I am using Zone alarm, AVG anti-virus & AVG Anti-spyware.

here is my hijack this log… many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Regards
Mark

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry about the delay in responding :( If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I have included a new hijackthis log.
Since I removed CiD my computer has been very slow starting up ( I removed CiD using the uninstall tool) , and also my machine is now running noticably slower when using IE. Any advice would be most welcome.

Nothing in your log jumps out but lets see what we can find.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Thanks for the response and suggestions. I have followed the instructions suggested and here is the malwarebytes log : Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.01 Database version: 311 Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 21829 Time elapsed: 8 minute(s), 40 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) As you can see there were no errors detected, I have restarted a couple of times, and clearing the cache etc, has made a difference. Startup however is still slow, and appears to be Zonealarm starting up. I am considering removing Zonealarm and replacing with Outpost, What advice would you offer ? Thanks for your support. It is appreciated
