My computer cannot communicate with my printer…printer and cables are fine and I have checked my firewalls etc…could a virus be causing this? It has done this several times and then will just randomly start working again. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Hi kshmom, Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. If you are still having trouble with your printer then the first step is to: 1 Uninstall your printer driver via control Panel 2 Disconnect your printer remove USB cable from computer 3 Restart your computer 4 Reinstall your Printer Driver Using Printer CD ROM supplied with the printer 5 Connect your Printer to your computer with an USB cable This is the procedure for a USB connected printer post back if you need further explanation or you are trying to connect by LPT1 rathere USB Regards paws
Did all that and still no luck. It doesn't post any errors etc, it installs fine and then when I try to print it says printer cannot communicate.
Hi Kshmom I don't know which kind of printer you have, but have you checked the homepage for your printer regarding known issues? By saying "installs fine", does that mean, the printer is present in Control-panel –> Fax and printers?? Kind regards Abydos
Hi again Kshmom :)

Given that i don't know the hardware configuration on your pc, i'll present this link with some trouble-shooting
advices. Theres alot of them, but see if you can work through them.

With all hardware problems theres a multitude of choices as where the fault should be found. USB drivers, Bios setting, bad cables etc etc, the list goes on.

Hope you will have luck using the guide. Otherwise you are of course welcome to write again. B)
