hello.. im very un-educated when it comes to computers. even finding this was difficult for me. i have windows xp and under one of my users, the computer runs very slowly. but under all of my usernames it will show up the "IMSORRYInternet Speed Monitor" like on google,it wil show up. now ive defragmented my computer (what ever that accualy does, idk) but i just want my computer back to normal where it wasnt slow and that IMSORRY..monitor thing. doesnt come back. now if you can give me step by step on what i have to do, that would be very helpful. but i dont know anything about computers so idk.. just please help. i read something about highjack this, idk what that is but i think i need to do something about it.. thank you very much for your help, who ever helps me
Hello,

Do not worry that you are new to computers, we will guide you to the best of our ability to get your computer going as it should.

Rather than suggest programs for you to install to clean up your computer, it is firstly best to see if it is free of Malware so accordingly please click on this link below and follow completely what it is saying:

kind regards,
thank you so much for the help. but i tried to do the first step:

You can get a complete installer that installs HijackThis to C:\Program Files\HijackThis, making an entry in the start menu and also providing a desktop shortcut from http://www.whatthetech.com/hjt202/HJTInstall.exe.

and i tried to do that but it said it was enabled to creat the directory "c/……"
error 5: acces denied

and then i click ok and it says

setup was not completed.
please correct the problem and run setup again.

im realy sorry to be causing you trouble like this but nothing makes sence to me like this. is their any way for me to somehow delete this "IMSORRYInternet Speed Monitor" thing and make my computer just as fast as it was? and how did this come to my computer? im sorry, i just dont understand what i did wrong and what i need to go through just to get rid of it.. thank you :(
Hi Again,

Are you the Administrator on the computer you are typing your messages to me? If not you will not be able to install HJT nor send a HJT log.

Have you got the CD for your Windows XP OS. Please do the following:

Windows Protected System File Checker SFC

Start>Run
type:
sfc /scannow (note the space between the c /)
Have your Win XP installation disc handy as if damaged files are found they will need to be copied across from your disc, if SFC can't find correct copies elsewhere.

Windows XP Installation disc not available or wrong Service Pack ie SP1 when SP2 is needed

There are work- arounds to this problem but the easiest, by far is to borrow one and use that. It is perfectly OK to do this, for the purposes of running SFC,and if you ask around all your friends, you are likely to find someone who will be able to help you out.

Here is a better explanation of SFC as a knowledge base for you.

SFC will not create a report, so please wait while it runs and then do the following.

Please then follow carefully the first link I gave you in my first post to you as I suggest you post a HJT log for analysing by the experts.

kind regards,
thank you so much for your help. but just a few more questions. :P how can i reset everything on my computer to the way it was default? because i just got a new computer and i was just going to set that up once i got this one going faster. and if i reset the computer to the way it was default. would it get rid of the IMSORRYInternet speed monitor? + any other things messed up with my computer. thank you so so so much for all your help. this realy is making me less frusterated. but i still dont understand why my computer got this in the first place. any more information would be amazing. thank yo so much.
