Java, is it a necessity?

Hi I was just wondering is it necessary to have Java installed on my computer - does it make my browser more secure or improve my web experience? Regards & Happy New Year

Hi Manicd,

Some Linux users may laugh and say that JAVA was one of the worst ideas that MS ever came up with for Website interaction.
However, Sun MicroSystems developed further innovations of JAVA which have been greatly improved for security and webpage interaction.

Yes, JAVA will improve your internet experience.
Yes, it is important to stay current with updates to JAVA JRE (presently v6 build 3)

Note for updating:
1. Uninstall all old versions of JAVA JRE prior to installing the most recent version
2. Use the "offline" installation download for the most successful installation of JAVA JRE

preferred download site: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Best Regards

Thanks again Doug & cheers for the link Kind Regards
