For a couple a weeks now my PC seems to be taking for ever to start up. I have NOD32 running plus Zonealarm and every week I run a scan with counterspy but so for nothing really has come to light. I have some entires in my start up log that do not make sense to me or are possibly not required such as the [Symantec RuFSI Utility Class]; [Crucial cpcScan] or [HPObjectInstaller Class]. Also I do not understand this entry in particular:
Shell & screensaver key from C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI:

Shell=*INI section not found*
SCRNSAVE.EXE=*INI section not found*
drivers=*INI section not found*

Here is the Log:

Does anyone have an idea why my PC takes up to 5 minutes to be ready for me to use? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Weclome to the forum hoppere. :wavey: I would like to offer you my help, if you are still in need. It will take a little while to analyze your log. I then need to get all fixes OK's by the experts here. Please stay with us and we will do what we can to speed up your startup. I will get back to you ASAP with our first suggestions. :D Thanks. DR
I get a weird picture of you glued to your PC. Using Krazy Glue? :lol:

OK, we have some recommendations for you. ;)

Sorry it took so long to get back. Things get busy here sometimes.

First, let's clean out your Temp files.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. (This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only)Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

The next recommendation has to do with the most recent ZoneAlarm Firewall being a resource hog. :thumbdown:

I would recommend that you Uninstall the ZoneAlarm and instead Install PC TOOLS Firewall Plus. :thumbup:
This is also free and uses far fewer resources.

After you have done these things, reboot the computer and let me know whether you see much of a difference. Sometimes it can take one or two reboots to allow things to settle in. B)

Thanks.

DR
Thank you for your input, well at least it does not look like my PC is infected. :) . I will do what you have suggested and hope for the best.
