Please help. "Your privacy guard" has taken over my parents computer upstairs. I ran a hijackthis scan on it and have the log on their computer but it wont let me post the info from their computer because it is so f-ed up. If i email to my email addy and open it up on my own computer to post it to you will it bring the virus to this computer? Also the computer with privacy guard on is sooo messed up i have tried running mccafe anti virus software on it . I started running it yesteraday morning and as of 516pm today it has only scanned roughly 66,000 files and it says that it has detected 9 issues viruses whatever and quarrentined 3 . But i mean thats just example of how messed up this thing is, its taking over 24 hours just to scan through 66,000 files!!! I'm praying someone here can help me because im about to throw the thing out the window :( - Juliana
Hello, and welcome to the forum.

My name is Simon V., and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Sending the HijackThis log by e-mail won't transfer the virus, so can you please do so and post it back here?

Also, please do the following:

Step 1

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, Deckard's System Scanner will open two Notepad files: main.txt and extra.txt - please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
Step 2

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!ri).
  • Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe. A screen will pop up. Select Option 1 (Search) by typing 1 and hit Enter. A text file will appear, which will list the infected files. Save it to a convenient location.
  • The log will also be saved here: C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Step 3

Please download and install CCleaner.
  • Open CCleaner. In the Left Pane, click Tools.
  • Verify that Uninstall is highlighted in color, or click on it.
  • In the lower right, click Save to Text File.
  • Pull down the arrow at the top of the Save dialog and choose Desktop as the location.
  • You can leave the filename as install.txt.
  • Click Save.
  • Exit Ccleaner by clicking on the X button in the upper right of the CCleaner window.
Step 4

In your next reply, please post:
  • the HijackThis log
  • the Deckard's System Scanner report
  • the SmitfraudFix log (C:\rapport.txt)
  • the CCleaner Uninstall List (install.txt)
