Hi there,

My ISP, Rogers, have notified me that my computer has been sending spam for the last few days so they decided to kill off my internet completely - not even allowing me to use any online-scanners - thus forcing me to post this at a relatives computer.

I've tried talking to my ISP to get more information since they got their information from a 3rd party vendor but my ISP's 'tech' team has essentially no idea what is the cause. Their only solution to me was to format my computer, which is something I would like to avoid.

I've run virus scans from Bit Defender and Spybot S&D and nothing has shown up. I've also had Zone Alarm, Comodo, and Spyware Blaster installed and yet it seems I still got infected by something.

Here is my Hijackthis log:

Help? Please?
My ISP has informed me that my internet is suspended for a month.

If anyone is wondering, I'm using the Wii to type this message. =/
Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Next:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

Next:

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it from your desktop and download this new version . It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
——————————————————————–

  • WARNING: IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts
  • Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
——————————————————————–

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.
Hi

Thank you for the reply.

Before I saw your message I ran ad-aware 2007 on the recommendation of a friend and it found 68 cookies that are infections and were promptly deleted. I ran a Hijackthis right after and I can post it if you would like.

Anyways, I followed your advice and here are the results.

How's it running?

I wont know until my net is reactivated next month, which is why i was hoping for you to give your opinion based on my latest hijack log.

From what i can tell combofix did find something and quaranteened it. I just hope combofix and ad-aware caught everything, though i think i may have no choice but to reformat to make sure its all gone.

Also, i was wondering if you could point me toa thread that deals with program recommendations. My current set up is obviously not working.
Lets also run this one:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.

I won't be able to check if there's an update since my net at home is disabled. Is there a way for me to update it manually by downloading the latest definitions on another computer and than transferring to my home computer?
Here is the Malwarebytes log: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.01 Database version: 287 Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 19579 Time elapsed: 2 minute(s), 49 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected)

OK. Guess you'll find out when your internet is up and running again.

Yeah… which is going to be a while.

Was there anything suspious in any of my logs?

Other than that, thank you for all your help, especially telling me about ATF-Cleaner.
I ran the flash disinfector and it didn't say anything so I'm assuming everything went well. Hopefully everything is A-OK till my net gets reactivated. Thanks for all the help.
