Please help!
I got a virus while using internet explorer.
I have 2 new icons on my desktop namely:
1. Online security Guide
2. Live Safety Center

I also notice a new security toolbar on my internet explorer.
It keeps on asking me to download latest spyware protection software.

these messages keeps popping in my computer:
1. Your computer is infected with adware or spyware that displays advertisement while you browse the internet
2. System performance & internbet connection is slowed down, it said
3. Security Alert: NetWorm-i.Virus@fp
4. PSW.x-Virtrojan.PSW
5. System Alert: Trojan-Spy.win32@mx
6. System Alert: Malware threats

& whenever I click on the explorer it redirects to: http://htepo.com/cehpmoin/?cmp=hmr&lid…BF13424B0FB5288

I don’t have hijackthis yet. I would appreciate any help & directions from you.
Thanks!

OK I'm sorry, but I'm new here & I don't know much about computers…

here's a copy of my hijackthis

I would really appreciate anyone's help. Thanks in advance!
1) You are running an old version of HJT. Download a copy of HJTInstall.exe from here and save it to your Desktop
  • Double click HJTInstall.exe to begin installation.
  • Accept the installation location, which by default is C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis or click the Browse… button if you want to chose somewhere else and then click Install
  • Once HJT has installed, a shortcut will be created on your Desktop and HJT will open automatically.
  • You will need to accept the EULA, if it appears, to be able to use the tool.
  • Close the program as you won't need to use it yet.
Do this BEFORE you proceed!

2) Rename your copy of hijackthis.exe to seek.exe and post a fresh log run in Normal Mode. It's possible that a nasty is interfering with the normal working of HJT in order to hide itself and renaming the .exe will get around this.
* Please note that you need to rename the file itself - renaming a shortcut will prove about as effective as a chocolate fireguard!

3) Run HJT and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager…
  • Click Save list… and save it to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the file uninstall_list.txt into your next reply.
Hi Noviciate! Thanks so much for replying.
I hope I did it correctly. BTW, while I was renaming to seek.exe there's a popup that said renaming might affect certain programs to run properly (or something like that)…

Here's my fresh log run.

You appear to have renamed the folder that HijackThis.exe is in, and not the file itself. According to your log, the running process is : C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\seek.exe\HijackThis.exe.
You need to rename HijackThis.exe that is in the folder now called seek.exe. Let me have a new HJT log when you have done so.
 sorry!…i hope this one's right…
i changed my antivirus hoping to delete the virus, but it was unsuccessful.
there are still popups & the 2 icons on my desktop…
so i'm posting my new hijackthis log & uninstall list…

~thanks~
If you compare the two logs, you'll see extra lines that show in the latest one. This is why renaming is necessary.
The following may not solve the problem, but it should hopefully leave just a little tidying-up and you'll be good to go:

Download Combofix by sUBs from here and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click combo.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
  • Please Note: This may require the PC to be rebooted so close any programs you have open before you start.
  • When the tool has finished, it will produce a log C:\ComboFix.txt - copy and paste it into your next reply.
  • Post a fresh HJT log as well.
  • Let me know how the PC is behaving.
Please Note:
  • Do not mouse click in the combofix window while it is running - this may cause your system to hang/crash.
  • Disable Script Blocking if you have NAV installed, and your version has this option, as it will interfere with the normal working of this tool.
  • Should any security program warnings appear, ignore them as they are false-positives - this tool isn't malicious.
~here's my combofix log~
