Norton Corporate Edition recently advised and quarantined "player.zip" trojan virus. Since that point upon booting computer (DELL Latitude D630 w/XP PRO) I receive the following message.
The instruction at "0x77c4805f" referenced memory at "0x77629304". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0xc000009c". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program.
This has affected my wireless network adapter as well as all sounds other than system sounds.
Can you help please?
This knowledge base article may be of assistance to you: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892000
or
use the links provided in the article to contact Symantec.
If you are using your Dell laptop in a corporate environment network, you should contact the IT department.
Thanks for the help, but the the knowledge base article doesn't really apply to my issue specifically. The error message I receive opens in a separate window (not blue screen) and is titled "svchost.exe - Application Error". Any new thoughts? Blessing and Thanks.
Please Run HJT and Post a Log over in the Malware Removal Forum.
It may be that Norton did identify and quarantine a bad-guy, but could have left others undetected.
If you continue to have difficulty after assuring that your machine is completely Malware Free, please feel free to post back here for additional follow-up.
