Hi,
I have gone through the whole home computing process, beginning in 1983 with a 48K Sinclair Spectrum and learned BASIC, thinking I would need to learn how to program, but found in the end other software offered me a more stable and usable option for my needs.
After living with the limitations of the minsicule memory I went to Apple in 1991 and had a IIsi with 5Mb and a 40 Mb HD that seemed positively huge, but soon found that PhotoShop could slow down a system with little effort. As you may tell I am a designer/artist and use that as my principal foundation for working in the field of of online marketing.
I now have a G3 iMac but for various involved reasons it has never been upgraded to run OsX.
In March of this year I got a 3.20Ghz with 512Mb RAM and 80Gb HD and yes it still doesn't seem to be fast enough. LOL
Looking forward to hanging out with you all.
Regards,
flyingscot

Good Morning 'Flyingscot'
It would be early morning for you - here in Australia it is midday on Tuesday as I write this.
Welcome to WTT. Glad you have chosen this wonderful forum. Please join in and help where you can as we are always looking for helpers at any level.
My goodness you have been with computers for lots of years. I like you started with a new Mac but in 1997 with 32MB RAM, soon upgraded to 64MB the max for that particular computer in those days.
Any chance of you getting more RAM as it will improve your system so much?
On my PC I have 1024MB and on my Laptop 2048MB. Both are remarkably fast but the PC is the better of the two.
Great to have you here and again a hearty welcome.
Welcome flyingscot,
Graphic Arts and Marketing sounds like a great application for your technical equipment and skills.
You've probably already found out that Tallin is correct about more RAM being of key importance in image manipulation.
I look forward to having you around.
Best Regards from Sunny California,
Doug
