Hi there i feel stupid for asking this - but is there a way i can put Hijackthis onto a CD-R? I am going round to a friends place later who has an infected PC so want to use it to help him out If anybody can help i'd be grateful
Hi Gabby_Villa Welcome to the forum If you are running Windows XP then its quite simple. Assuming you have saved HJT to your computer then try this: 1 Find the HJT file and right click on it 2 Click on Send to 3 Click on CD/DVD burner drive (its sometimes the last one in the list) 4 Wait for a second or so and a balloon will appear saying "You have files waiting to be written to CD" 5 Click inside the balloon 6 At the next screen that opens automatically Click on File 7 Click on "Write these files to disc 8 A wizard will now open follow on-screen directions 9 Insert a brand new CD writable disc in your machine when prompted. Don't forget that you can also save to a thumb drive (sometimes called a flash drive or memory stick) one that fits into a USP socket or you could use a floppy drive or even email it to your chum. If your chum's machine is Internet enabled then they could also download the file direct to their machine. CAUTION if you suspect your chum's machine to have trojan like infections then it is best to keep it off the Internet (disconnected) until the hjt log has been obtained and expert advice received from a malware removal adviser. Good luck and post back here if you need further information Regards paws
