[BluNov]

I recently upgraded to high speed internet and left my computer on for the night only to wake up to find that there are 3 icons on my desktop that reload them self ever time i restart my machine. Further more in task-manager my CPU resources is always maxed out and messages keep pop-up telling my that am infected. On closing these message box explorer comes up and transport me to sites like "http://pcsecuresystem.com". Can you help me get rid of this it driving me nuts.
P.S. I have ZoneAlarm Internet Suite at the time of infection and it did seem to to a thing to try to prevent it can you also advise of a way to ensure this does not happen again

I assume this is Zonealarm with Antivirus included? Did it detect anything?

Anyway, do next please.. * Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

* Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

• Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
• It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
• Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
  (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
• Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Hi,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Delete the C:\SDFix - folder

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2.
• Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
• The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save to your desktop.
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
  • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
  • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
  • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Well, there are a lot of training schools where you can learn this all. Here, we also have a training school, but for that you'll have to contact one of the administrators here to ask for access and training.

I did what you said (including the updating java) and everything seems to be working fine now. I will write one of the admin. for advice on learn this stuff. Thanks a lot!! P.S. I am actually a student doing a degree in computing but my course do not teach me the things I really want to learn Like this I really have to learn this.
