Hi

Ok lets get rid of some of the tools first. Just a word of warning first. That av.exe file I had checked you get scanned belongs to some IRC software, which is not actually dangerous or malicious but can create a vulnerability. Best to be careful.

Delete, if they are still on your Desktop, the SDFix zip folder, fbls, Combofix icon, WinPFind3 folder and exe icon

Navigate to and delete the following folders, if they are present.

C:\SDFix
C:\Combofix
C:\Qoobox
  • Please go HERE to run PandaActiveScan…

  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open…click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)

  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to your desktop.
It may not work first time, try a second or third time, then let me know if it still doesnt work. And let me know if you are on dial-up or broadband.
Scotty Avast will not allow the Panda scan …..It says that an active virus was found so had to click on abort which stoped the scan. Im on Broadband
Scotty this is the message that panda showed Error on downloading ActiveScanAn error has occurred downloading Panda ActiveScan. Please repeat the process. If the error occurs again, restart your system and try againPossible causes of this error are: Not allowing the application's ActiveX control to be downloaded. Problems with the Internet connection. The error could be due to a download error or an installation error due to lack of hard disk space, privileges etc.,…
Those on-line scans, as good as they are, are starting to annoy me.
Run SuperAntiSpyware again.

· Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
  • Close browsers before scanning
  • Scan for tracking cookies
  • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Please leave the others unchecked.
  • Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
· On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
· On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
· On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
· Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
· After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
· Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
· It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.
· To retrieve the removal information for me please do the following:
  • After reboot, double-click the SUPERAntispyware icon on your desktop.
  • Click Preferences. Click the Statistics/Logs tab.
  • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.

to download and install XP Service Pack 2.

When you are finished, post back with a new HijackThis log.

Hi

If it's a legal copy then it should be activated and will download okay. If you want to test that:

Please go here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
Click on Validate Windows. If validation fails, you'll see a button to click on which will provide information on how to acquire a WGA Kit.

Dont worry about the HJT log until we have updated. There will be rebooting required.

Let me know how the above goes.
