i'm hoping that someone will know the anwser to this question…..if i were to recieve an email from someone with XP, and in this email there contained screenshots ( by way of control, alt, printscreen & then paste) ….would i be able to see them in the email if i was using a system that ran on windows vista home premium? this might be a stupid question, but i really dont know the answer…thanks to all
Both Vista and XP use commonly recognizable image formats, and the default format for screen shots is typically .bmp
For size considerations and ease of transmission as attached files in email, it is recommended that you "save" the file as a .jpg (much smaller format without losing much of the resolution).
You can also post the screen shot image to an online "host" and then send the URL to your email correspondent.
The other person can then just "click" on your link to view the hosted image.
Doing it that way is often more "economical", meaning that your email client may have size limitations, and your browser may be better able to load a page, than your email client is able to load an image.
A good "host" is linked in my signature below.
Best Regards
how would i do that ("save" it as a jpeg)….when i do ctrl, alt, prt scrn then paste, i put in in paint it saved as a bmp..i've tried pasting it into coral paint shop pro so i could paint on it & its saved as a psp image….which btw my email wontblocks out as as dangerous….thanks
Hi cld,
I think what Doug suggested was to paste it into MSPAINT (as you are doing already) but save it as a Jpeg not a BMP
Under "save as type "use the right down arrow to reveal the choices, and select JPEG
This will reduce the file size and will not reduce the quality (much!)
Don't forget that to see images in emails you will need to set your email client (Outlook Express for example) to allow them.
