I click on any icon on desktop to open program, only thing that opens is a graphic viewer I have called IrfanView. To open a program I have to specifically chose "open" on menu. In my html editor, I click on the internet icon to view my code as a webpage, it opens this same viewer. Started a few weeks ago, don't know of any problem I had to start this situation but sounds like something wrong in the registry. Any suggestions? Can't view my code as a webpage at all. jhona
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your machine. I think you are right, it seems that your image programme IfanView seem to have "associated itself" with the incorrect programmes It would probably be best to try this as a start: 1 From your desktop press and hold down the Shift key whilst at the same time right clicking on a programme icon that should NOT open with your graphics programme. 2 From the drop down menu click on "Open With" 3 Select the correct programme to open the application (you may need to browse for it if it is not shown) 4 Check/tick the box 4 Click OK If this works for you and the correct programme now opens when you click on an Icon then repeat the exercise with all your regular icons. See how you go, post back here if these steps do not assist you in solving the problem and we will outline the next procedure to follow. Regards paws
Thanks for the suggestion, should have thought of that myself. I'll test it and see if I can finally get things set right. thanks for the advice :wavey:
