I hope I'm doing this right. Short story long…
For a few weeks I had been getting a weird pop-up while using Firefox (not with IE, nor later when I switched to Opera) on my laptop. Randomly a new browser window would open…the contents of what appeared in the new window varied.
- Sometimes the address bar would show c:\windows\feedback.html and a "Submit" button would appear in the upper left hand corner of the browser's viewing area (I never clicked it). The feedback.html file itself showed no text and was close to 0kb on my hard drive, but every time I would delete it it would reappear after the next time I got the popup.
- Sometimes it would be exactly the SAME, except before the "Submit" button it would show the keystrokes I had entered since the previous pop-up. Again, a new feedback.html (with nothing in it) would be installed.
- Sometimes it would open and try to connect to a specific webpage. However, that web page would never load and the browser would simply say "could not connect to server" (or something like that…as if the address was incorrect). I WISH I'd have copied and pasted the web address that showed in the address bar but I didn't. It was something along the lines of http://profesionalka.blogdns.com (I know the blogdns.com is right, but cannot remember if it was "profesionalka"
Question 1: Would completely restoring my hard drive to the way it was when I bought it take care of any viruses/etc. and changes to the registry that have occured?
Question 2: If not…HELP! Here is my Hijack logfile…
