[Resolved]Trouble Upgrading To New Version

I tried to post my log but received a message telling me to upgrade. I downloaded the new program but when I click it to open, it asks me what program to open it with. Please advise the correct answer. Thanks, Jim

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

Please delete any HijackThis Folders and Files you have now.

There's a new version of HijackThis.


Click the "Save" button.

Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Open HijackThis and select: Do a system scan and save a log file.

When the scan is finished, Click Edit> Select All> Edit> Copy> and paste its contents here [Add Reply].

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O21 - SSODL: Internet Explorer - {F28A40D7-AD0E-034A-C651-5F0ED76232E6} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Gqokgagj.dll (file missing)
O21 - SSODL: EfQwaEYtGQ - {3D0E6E60-97A4-C4CA-3EF3-4AC0681D3A02} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SI.DLL (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"



Delete these Files if listed:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Gqokgagj.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SI.DLL


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Just recently I'm experiencing overall slowness, programs locking up and odd pop ups even though I have a pop up blocker. I'm running AVG, spybot, ad aware and spyware blaster.

Ok, that's good news then. I have the scheduler doing scandisc and defrag on a regular basis. If I don't have a bug then I'll thank you very much for the super fast help. Jim
